Global Awakening: Monster Taming Necromancer

Chapter 11: Hermit– In the name of Mors, the Death Lord

Chapter 11: Hermit– In the name of Mors, the Death Lord

There was very little remaining of the Devourer, a bit of bloody smear and tentacles still with some of the teeth. Jael crawled out of the pit, his clothes soaked with blood and things he would rather not know.

Litha was inspecting the explosion area when she saw Jael. "What was that? Your abilities.....it....."

"Unholy magic," Jael looked her right in the eyes, feeling a bit defensive. "Is there a problem with that?"

Litha snorted and waved her hands. "Problem? I don't care what type of magic you have. What matters is what you use it for and that spell– It carried a mean punch."

Jael put his hand over his Codex; it felt warm to the touch, just like how he was feeling inside. He felt proud. For the first time in his life, he had strength in his hand, and he had used it. As if he's finally in control of his life. He smiled. He wanted more power so he would never be under the control of others.

"Monster Taming Necromancer."

"What's that?" Temur asked. He was still holding his sword but he wasn't emitting any aura right now.

"My Codex. It's a spell book. Monster Taming Necromancer."

"Necromancer?" Litha asked; she looked at him again with new eyes. "The Iron set climbing the Tower this time is powerful. I'll be having a lot of competitors." She said it as if she was looking forward to it.

Temur tapped the floor with his sword. "So you are a mage."

"Maybe? I'm also a tamer. I think." Jael said. He opened the book and read the abilities written there again, but no other information was provided. And its a single page.

"Let's leave all that for later. We'll all explain our abilities later, but for now, we have to get out of here," Litha said,; she was already turning to go, but something flared behind he that made her turn.

It was Jael's Code; it hung above the monster's corps, emitting a green light.

Temur looked at it. "Monster Taming what again....?

Litha was also curious; she had never seen anyone with such abilities before, maybe even a few of the Ascendants and Climbers have such abilities. "So?"

Jael felt it, the intent from the Codex, it wanted him to cast his spell [Unholy Bond], on the Devourer remaining. He gestured and the Codex drifted closer.

He opened his mouth, and some of the energy had been replenished from the essence he got from killing the monster flooded out. "In the name of Mors, Death Lord," green magic gathered at his fingertips and sparked into the body. "I open the first gate and bind you to me. Come here, Dev...#####...." his tongue twisted, and another name came to his mouth. "Come here, Hermit."

That was the true name of the monster, and immediately it left his mouth, there came a faint sound as if an Iron gate was swinging open. The green fire started to burn the monster's body, but it didn't consume it. Then, a bright green flash left them all closing their eye, and it was done.

Jael was already feeling the monster before he opened his eyes, a connection formed by his spell. It was weak but it was there. And without looking he knew his Codex had also been updated.

When Jael finally opened his eyes and looked at it. He was disappointed. What he saw wiggling on the floor wasn't some kind of badass monster he thought he would finally see. No, it was the size of a worm, but the skin was still the same brown but now mixed with green patches.

They all crouched to look at it. Silent before Temur spoke. "Do you also feel the aura coming from it, Litha?"

Jael looked at the of them, and then the little monster, he tried feel with his senses too but he didn't know what he was suppose to be even feeling until Litha spoke. "Yes. This small thing is Iron rank, and.... its heart is beating."

Jael picked it up and put it on his left palm. "Is the heart beating a wrong thing."

Litha stood. "No necessary, but your power is Necromacer, right? Then it should only bring back the dead."

"Don't forget Monster Taming," Temur added.

"Right. Maybe that has to do with it. It seems modified, too, in a way. Your Codex is doing wonders." Litha said.

"What's that?" Someone said.

They all reacted differently. Temur's sword was already at the person's neck and Litha already gathered power in her fist. Even Jael had twisted away and pointed his hand forward.

"It's me!" The voice yelp.

It was the survivor they freed earlier. He was smiling, scratching his hair. His Codex hung above his head, a blue orb, but it seemed more solid and flickered.

Litha frowned. How did he manage to sneak up on them without her knowing? Not to think even Temur, with his warrior sense was also surprised.

"When did you get here?" Litha demanded.

"Ah! I saw the explosion and came down here to see what was happening. I saw you kill that monster! How'd you do it? And then you put some kind of green fire over it and it's alive again!"

Jael relaxed. "Easy, easy. What's your name?"

"Mopi. My name is Mopi," he moved closer. "What's that in your hand? Is that the same monster earlier? Wow, but it was big before! How did it get so small?

Is that your Codex? It's giving me shivering vibes!" He was breathing hard when he finished, but he was smiling and his eyes shone brightly.

Jael smiled tightly. For some reason, he felt uneasy, but he shoved it away. "Well yes. It's my undead monster now." He couldn't keep the pride from his voice.

Litha rolled her eyes from her place, she was already waking away. "Okay, boys. Break time is over, you can keep your toys. Look at them later!"

"We don't want to be here when the GUV or the Tower Guards come!"
