Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 289: The Zombie Threat

Chapter 289: The Zombie Threat

The Sentinel Mk-IV Automated Turret started working, and they could hear its gears and system activating.

After a few moments, its targeting system locked onto the nearest Tyrant Zombie with perfect accuracy!

With a resounding thud, the Turret unleashed a burst of energy bullets that streaked through the night sky like shooting stars, homing in on their massive targets.

The first Tyrant Zombie staggered as the energy bullets struck its body, tearing through its decaying flesh with explosive force. The creature let out a guttural roar before collapsing to the ground in a heap of twisted limbs and dark ichor. It failed to recover itself as it was a perfect target for the Turret!

Thud! Thud Thud!

[ You have eliminated a Tyrant Zombie. ]

Just like that, the powerful Zombie that was incredibly difficult to kill more than a month ago was already killed in just four shots of Energy Bullet!

’That’s fast…’ Shane thought as he looked at the Turret from the ground.

Well, this Turret was meant to destroy a mechanical suit of Anima, so the flesh of the Zombies was still too soft for it!

Creak…

Then, the automated Turret swiftly repositioned itself, targeting the next approaching Tyrant Zombie. Another barrage of energy bullets erupted from its sleek barrel, striking the monster again and again!

This time, the element of surprise was no longer there so the Tyrant Zombies somehow managed to dodge more energy bullets from the Turret…

It was able to get so much closer but thankfully, the outside of the Shelter was also filled with Traps… After the creature stumbled, it was immediately rained by energy bullets!

Soon, its terrifying form was convulsing as it succumbed to the onslaught of firepower.

[ You have eliminated a Tyrant Zombie. ]

As the third Tyrant Zombie charged forward, the Sentinel Mk-IV locked on once more, unleashing a final salvo of energy bullets that tore through the creature’s thick hide, bringing it crashing down in a cloud of dust and debris.

[ You have eliminated a Tyrant Zombie. ]

Everything happened so quickly and the threat of the Tyrant Zombies was quickly eliminated just like that…

Silence descended upon the Shelter as the last echoes of the Turret’s deadly barrage faded into the night.

Shane stood in awe of the Sentinel Mk-IV’s efficiency, grateful for its swift and decisive action in defending their Shelter against the Zombies.

"Ahahah! Incredible! The Tyrant Zombies are dead! Focus on eliminating those filthy low-tier Zombies!" Magnus immediately knew what to do since they were in the momentum. He immediately gathered his forces and dealt with the remaining Zombies.

Soon, every Zombie was killed and they didn’t even touch the corpses of the Tyrant Zombies. Stay connected through ???

"Sir Shane, you can go ahead and loot the Tyrant Zombies that you Turret killed. I’m really thankful for what you’ve done. We may be capable of killing those Zombies but certainly not without much effort, like how the Turret killed them. There might even be a casualty in my team of Elite Survivors." Magnus said as he sincerely looked at Shane who was overlooking the battle on the stone wall.

"Thank you… I also needed some materials from the Tyrant Zombies, so I’ll go ahead and loot them." Shane said.

"Oh… If you needed materials, then it might be difficult since they’re really quite stingy at times. If you don’t mind not getting your Experience Points, I have someone in our Shelter who has a Golden Hands Talent. All his loot has at least 50% gain…" Magnus explained. This was actually a secret of their Ironclad Imperium Clan.

After all, having someone capable of looting materials from zombies almost every time would be a source of their wealth. Magnus or his whole clan wouldn’t want others to know this since some clans or individuals might target them to kill them in order to halt their wealth makers.

Shane was actually surprised that Magnus had revealed it now. It seemed that he was really sincere on building connections with him.

"That’s amazing… However, I also have some tricks. I’ll go ahead and loot it myself. Thank you for the offer, Magnus." Shane replied.

Magnus smiled, seeing this as he realized that Shane was indeed not blinded by greed. It seemed that he really had other methods of acquiring materials, or he just didn’t care at all.

As soon as Shane was outside the Shelter, he quickly moved and looted the three Tyrant Zombies.

[ You have earned 55 Experience Points. ]

[ Loots obtained: Item Upgrade Crystals x2, Zombie Cores x2, Bread x2, 100mL Tyrant Zombie Blood, Spirit Enhancement Bottle x2, Corrupted Hearthstone x2 ]

"Ohh… Wow…" Shane muttered as he realized that he got 2 Hearthstone in just a single retrieval of loot.

He then repeated the looting process with the two other Tyrant Zombies, and he obtained a total of 6 Hearthstones just like that!

’Perfect…’ Shane smiled as he couldn’t help but smile seeing the Hearthstones in his Inventory.

Currently, he has a total of 22 Corrupted Hearthstones in his possession, and he certainly cannot help but feel excited to use them soon.

After all, he was already aware of how he could fully utilize these precious stones.

However, as night fell and cast its shadow over the land, a sense of dread permeated the air as a hulking silhouette emerged on the horizon.

’It’s here…’ Magnus thought as he looked at the horizon…

The Giant Zombie, a towering behemoth of decaying flesh and bone, loomed ominously near their shelter, its malevolent gaze fixed upon their fragile refuge.

What he could see was a shadow of the Giant Zombie and the red eyes staring at them…

"We’re going to make it…" Shane said as he noticed that Magnus was indeed nervous.

Well, they were unlike him, who had already defeated Giant Zombies several times! Nonetheless, he doesn’t plan to tell that as the Zombie in front of them might be different or a variant version of the Giant Zombie, who knows.

"I hope so… I trust you, Shane…" Magnus replied.

"Yes… I already received the reward so rest assured that I’ll deal with it." Shane said as he showed his Tattoo Mark.
