Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 284: Automated

Chapter 284: Automated

Shane smiled after hearing what she had just said.

Apparently, she was close. He certainly obtained an Automated Turret from the Wild Shelter before.

However, because of his Otherworldly Mechanic Talent and his access to Anima Store, he turned it into something that should only exist in the A.I. Rebellion Apocalypse. It was something that shouldn't exist in the Zombie Outbreak!

Nonetheless, he was now aware of the existence of the other Apocalypse Ender, the one who ended the Vampire's Rise. Whoever managed to end that Apocalypse must possess a very high level. If he encountered this person now, he was most likely guaranteed to lose.

With that in mind, Shane had to learn how to take advantage of all of his skills and talent.

As he reached the stone wall of the Shelter, Shane observed the surroundings for a moment.

The stone wall doesn't have any form of Barrier. It seemed that the Ironclad Imperium relied on the natural formation of rocks here as camouflage or defense against zombie attacks.

He also noticed that it was pocked with moss and battle scars. Beyond it lay the forest and mountains—a vast region where the Giant Zombie would soon emerge.

The Shelter's defense was too lacking. It was indeed a lot better to escape this Shelter instead.

"Are you curious why we looked so defenseless?" Lysandra asked after noticing that Shane was frowning at the sight of their wall.

The Giant Zombie was no ordinary foe. There was no way this Shelter could last for even a minute if it started attacking them. However, it should be the same if they faced a Zombie Wave with their current number.

"Yes, I've been curious how you were able to survive this long with this many Survivors in one place. The number of Zombies in the Wave should be relative to the number of people in one place."

"You're right… We actually have a decent defense here… One of them is the moss you're seeing in our stone wall. Low-Tier Zombies would normally become confused or sometimes even attack their own kind if they were too close to the mystical moss that only grows in this part of the forest.

Our leader here tried selling it to other areas, but in the end, it couldn't grow elsewhere and would normally die within a few hours." Lysandra explained.

"That's interesting…" Shane felt impressed knowing this. As expected, there were plenty of things he didn't know about this continent. It was a good thing to explore other sectors to really broaden his horizon.

"Yes… Aside from that, Magnus and his elite team had decent combat skills when they were together. Previously, we only had trouble when we fought against a High-Tier Zombie, where over 20 people died in the process." Lysandra added.

"Oh? You only fought against one High-Tier Zombie?" Shane was surprised.

"Yes… Isn't that too early at this point? We're just in our Second Zombie Wave after all."

"R-right…" Shane wryly smiled as he realized that perhaps it wasn't just about the number but about the strength of the people in the Shelter. Since they were a bit too strong, they had encountered more than 10 High Tier Zombies at that time!

'Do we really deserve so face that much force?' Shane wryly smiled as he recalled the last Zombie Wave.

Anyway, it was time to set up their defense…

His fingers brushed the rough stone, tracing the grooves left by the battles that had occurred in this wall.

The Ironclad Imperium Clan had survived for quite a long time. However, they certainly wouldn't survive the Giant Zombie at this rate, they needed innovation.

Shane turned around, eyes scanning the Shelter's interior.

At this time, tens of people noticed that someone was on top of the wall. They only glanced at him for a moment and continued on their work… Although they knew that they would have to leave this place soon, their work didn't stop since that was the only thing they could do… They were simply completing their purpose in this Shelter.

After some calculation, Shane then reached into his Inventory…

After opening his Inventory, he withdrew it—a sleek, machinery marvel that seemed out of place in this apocalyptic world.

Needless to say, this mechanical wonder was from the item he obtained in the Wild Shelter. Its original form was the huge Automated Turret before!

Currently, it has been improved by his Otherworldly Mechanic Talent, and he also spent a total of 200 Zombie Cores, 10 Power Cores, and 10 Reputation Points to modify it!

Thud!

As soon as it was taken out, it stood as tall as a man while its base was anchored to the ground.

Clink… Clink… Clink…

Turret made some creaking noise at first as it adjusted its two barrels… Soon, its various functions started working as its sensors scanned the environment.

"This…" Lysandra was shocked as soon as she saw this seemingly out-of-place piece of technology! It seemed too advanced. She wouldn't even be surprised if this machine came from a spaceship of some aliens!

Shane had positioned the Automated Turret at the wall's highest point… Its twin barrels swiveled, tracking his movements. He then accessed its control panel… Soon, Shane's fingers danced across holographic buttons. The turret's A.I. interface flickered to life, like a digital eye observing him.

"Designation: Sentinel," Shane murmured. "Your purpose: Defend."

The user interface then accepted its task.

[ Designation Accepted. ]

"Cloud, help me input the information about the enemies." Shane said.

[ Affirmative. ]

With that, Shane allowed his watch to take over the machinery system.

"Right, can you load incendiary rounds for the main enemy... Set targeting parameters to prioritize the Giant Zombie's head and limbs." Shane said as Cloud complied.

In any case, there were two types of ammunition for this weapon: Energy Bullets and Incendiary Rounds.

Energy Bullets don't consume too much energy from the Power Cores but Incendiary Rounds would consume a lot. Nonetheless, it was the most destructive.

Shane stepped back, watching as the Sentinel calibrated itself with Cloud's assistance…

Soon, it projected a holographic field, mapping the Shelter's surroundings in order to protect the Shelter…

'Now, what would I request as payment for this help?' Shane mused as he recalled Magnus's offer.
