Chapter 1255: Content with What You Have

“Yiling…” Qin Chuan called out again. For some reason, he kept repeating Jian Yiling’s name.

His brow was knotted. It seemed like the contents of his dreams weren’t good.

Suddenly, Qin Chuan opened his eyes and met Mo Shiyun’s eyes.

There was evident confusion in his clear and cold eyes.

Upon realizing he was awake, Mo Shiyun hurriedly let go of Qin Chuan’s hand.

“You’re awake? Do you want some water? I’ll get you a glass of water.”

Mo Shiyun got up and poured a glass of water for Qin Chuan before handing it to him.

It took Qin Chuan a while to distinguish between reality and his dreams.

“There’s no need for that,” Qin Chuan said as he propped up his upper body. His head felt like it was about to explode in pain.

It did not feel good to be drunk.

And the reason why he was drunk was that he had just heard about Jian Yiling’s wedding date whilst he was drinking after work.

The date for Zhai Yunsheng and Jian Yiling’s wedding had been finally determined.

It was going to be next month.

And after he heard about the news, he poured himself a glass of white wine one after the other.

And then, he got himself drunk.

“Did I say or do anything to you just now?” Qin Chuan asked.

“No. You didn’t say anything and you didn’t do anything. You were sleeping well. When I saw you sweat, I used a towel to wipe your face and hands slightly. Then I took off your suit jacket.”

Qin Chuan slightly lowered his eyes. It appeared as though he was thinking about something.

After a pause, Mo Shiyun added: “You should go take a bath. You were sweating a lot so it’s uncomfortable to sleep with that much sweat on your body. I’ll go and ready up the bath water.”

Qin Chuan did not reply. Instead, he looked straight at Mo Shiyun.

“Did I… I do something wrong?” Mo Shiyun asked nervously.

“No. It has nothing to do with you,” Qin Chuan replied as he looked away.

No matter how he looked at Mo Shiyun, his heart didn’t beat faster.

He didn’t know whether this was because he was different, or because Mo Shiyun was different.

Or maybe it was because they were both different.

When she heard this response from Qin Chuan, Mo Shiyun let out a sigh of relief.

“Do you still have a headache? Do you want me to go and get some medicine for you?” Mo Shiyun asked again.

“No, it’s fine. Just let me stay by myself for a while,” Qin Chuan said to Mo Shiyun.

“Alright. If you need anything, you can call me anytime. I don’t plan to sleep early,” Mo Shiyun said. Then, she carefully left Qin Chuan’s room.

After Mo Shiyun left, Qin Chuan went into a daze.

Perhaps it was due to the effect of alcohol but memories of Jian Yiling became especially clear.

From the first time they met at the Jian Residence, to later going to the Old Jian Residence to tutor her, to her treating his mother’s illness and him discovering her secret, to their contact and interactions one after another during those three years…

After Mo Shiyun returned to her room, she decided to go to the kitchen to cook something for Qin Chuan to eat. After drinking so much wine, Qin Chuan’s stomach surely did not feel good.

Although her cooking was not as good as Jian Yiling’s, it would still be considered delicious by an average person.

In the past, when her mother went to work early and came home late, she would come home after class to cook meals for her mother.in advance.

And thus, she learned how to cook a lot of dishes.

When she reflected back on those days, even though they were poor, they were also happy.

It was much better than later when her mother was in jail and she was hated by everyone. During those times, she lived like a street rat.

And thus, in the past two years, she learned that one should be content with what they had. She decided to not think about what one couldn’t get. If she did, she could lose the things that she once held dear to her.
