Chapter 474: Will He Live?

Xiang Ning crawled, tumbled, and ran out of the metal door. Sometimes, a person didnt know their physical limits until they were cornered. Now he was moving with all the strength in his body, his speed so greatly exceeding the monsters that he seemed to have disappeared right before the monsters eyes.

The monster roared and accelerated, but after a bend, it could no longer find Xiang Ning. The gigantic spaceship was filled with various walkways. Although he didnt know where the monster had come from, Xiang Ning believed that it wouldnt be able to find him in this gigantic place, especially when he owned a map. That was actually a gamble, because when the monster lost sight of him and continued charging ahead, it had stopped listening and smelling from rage.

It didnt notice that Xiang Ning was above the bend.

Xiang Ning didnt actually run away at top speed, because he was still unfamiliar with the place. He knew that he couldnt run forever, so he could either hide from it or he could fight to the death. That said, fighting the monster would be impossible, and outrunning it was only even more so.

Ever since it had torn down the metal door and killed dozens of tier five cultivators in seconds, he knew that the beast was far stronger than what he could deal with. In fact, it was even more dangerous than the tier eight beast kings he had faced.

Xiang Ning activated Disguise, the skill that had saved his life many times. It was a risky move; if the monster turned around and looked, he would be dead.

Only when the monster was too far away to hear any noise did Xiang Ning fall back to the ground. He had three minutes left. Opening all eight gates was very damaging to his body, and although he had Refresh, it was limited to one use per day and he had already used it. Now he couldnt go anywhere and had to find an absolutely safe place to hide.

He didnt choose to run back to the path he had come along via the underground tunnel. First, in his current condition, it would also be dangerous if he met another person, and second. Sweat dripped down his forehead, he didnt dare think about that.

Right after passing through that metal door, the monster entered a main walkway. There were several important rooms along that route, like the control center, research facility, security room, etc. Xiang Ning needed to find the security room.

Every battleship should have more than a thousand armed security forces. Just like the Chaos, which had one thousand four hundred and thirty-one security guards that patrolled twenty-four hours a day. And those security guards were not to be underestimated since anyone who could get aboard the Chaos must be someone capable. They all took on many roles, like basic maintenance work, firefighting, basic medical procedures, and so on. If someone onboard was injured, they were in charge of treatment.

This ship was many times larger than the Chaos, so it should have had at least three thousand security forces and security rooms in every wing.

Why would he choose to go there? That room should have the equipment required for battle. If this battleship had crashed because of an invasion by this species, then it should have weapons designed to deal with that species. Although it wasnt likely, that was one of Xiang Nings objectives for being therefinding out as much as he could about the scientific inventions on board.

The nearest security room wasnt far away. He only had to walk for two minutes along the main walkway to find it. It was a short two minutes, but during that time, he almost fainted from anxiety. He was stressed out by the possibility of the monster returning, and the side effects from opening eight gates were intensifying. He was also terrified that he might not even find the room. However, when he found it, his Combat Instinct suddenly sent him a huge alert. He could feel the monster approaching!

Thankfully, the entrance to the security room seemed to have been broken open. Xiang Ning guessed it was the work of the monster, though the hole was rusty so it must have been torn open quite some time ago.

He gulped, clenched his teeth, then lifted his leg and entered. He must take a risk because he had nowhere else to go. If he didnt enter the room, staying outside was certain death. But coming inside could let him hide from the monster. He was that confident in his Disguise skill.

The room was similar to the security room of the Chaos, though slightly larger. It could hold twenty people, though it was currently a mess. There were bullet holes everywhere and a black substance covered the floor, beds, and corners. There was some white powder on the black substance.

Those were probably the remains of the guards onboard. There was even a monster carcass in the center of the room. Xiang Ning didnt know why after thousands of years, the guards bodies, including their bones, had disappeared to leave behind something like black mud, while the monsters body remained intact.

Thankfully, his battle armor wasnt broken so it quarantined him from the air. The pathogens there could be fatal.

Xiang Ning didnt have time to explore. After understanding the general layout of the room, he quickly hurried to one side. There was a giant chest under a bed that was meant for weapons and clothes, and when he found the chest, he immediately lay inside, using the broken Devourer to push himself further in. Only a crack remained.

Footsteps grew louder and louder. Xiang Ning strained his ears, silently listening to the sounds outside.

After a while, the commotion grew further from him. Xiang Ning heaved a sigh of relief and his Eight Gates skill reached its time limit. A wave of fatigue and pain washed over him, which caused his Disguise to falter and disappear. When it deactivated, the monster halted and hissed. Xiang Nings heart skipped a beat and he quickly activated Disguise again.
