Chapter 93: Arriving at Laras's Home
The surface of the previously calm portal suddenly rippled and lit up, indicating the arrival of someone. A woman emerged from within. Laras, who had previously entered the portal from the Wrap Point area. As a core member of the Alliance, she had exclusive rights to connect the public portal directly to the portal in her private residence.
"Welcome, Miss Laras," greeted a guard on duty. Even though this was a private portal, strict supervision was maintained to ensure security and prevent misuse.
Laras nodded and walked straight toward the house, leaving the teleportation area. Her gaze softened as she looked at the grand house in front of her. She had been away for several days and had just returned. The image of her mother, who surely missed her, flashed in her mind.
Just as Laras approached the door of her house, it suddenly swung open without warning.
"Welcome home!" exclaimed a short-haired girl standing at the entrance. Her voice echoed with enthusiasm.
Behind her stood a middle-aged woman wearing a grey hijab, gazing at Laras with loving eyes. "You're home..." she said softly.
"Mother..." Laras murmured, holding back the overwhelming longing inside her. But before she could step closer, another shout rang out, "Sister Laras...!" Nita, who had opened the door, suddenly ran inside and hugged Laras tightly.
"This girl..." Laras whispered softly, opening her arms to embrace Nita, who was already clinging to her chest.
"Ummmm..."
"Sister Laras... why were you gone for so long?" Nita murmured gently, burying her head deeper into Laras's embrace.
"There, there... what's the matter with you?" said Laras, stroking Nita's head. "You're acting like we've been apart for a year."
After a few moments, the two women released their embrace and turned to Laras's mother, who was watching their antics with a gentle smile.
"Sorry, Auntie," said Nita with an awkward smile.
Laras then approached her mother and hugged her tightly. They embraced for a moment before finally letting go.
"All right, it's good to have you home safely. Come inside," her mother invited, waving her hand to usher them into the house.
The three women walked into the house. Of the three, Nita was the most energetic, her cheerful and spirited nature starkly contrasting with the quiet demeanor often perceived by others.
...
At the back of Laras's large house, there was a spacious swimming pool with water shimmering under the sunlight. The pool was surrounded by an exotic wooden deck, furnished with lounge chairs and large umbrellas, giving it a tropical resort feel. This area was perfect for relaxation, with a warm jacuzzi inviting for a soak.
Not far from the pool, there was a green garden filled with colorful flowers. Stone paths and a small, babbling fountain in the corner of the garden added a calming, natural touch, creating a captivating peaceful atmosphere.
In the middle of the pool was a small pavilion with several sofas and a table inside. There, two women were sitting, warmly chatting while enjoying the fruits on the table.
"Yes, Sis... We have detected that Wiko has bad intentions towards the Alliance," said Nita, explaining the situation when Wiko Suryo acted unexpectedly at the previous meeting.
"However, after the direct meeting at the government building, his animosity level dropped to 5%," she continued.
Laras listened attentively to Nita's explanation. Nita often confided in her when facing problems, and this time was no different. After Nita finished her story, Laras gave her opinion.
"You can't think so simply, Nita. In fact, I somewhat disagree with just staying on the island without going out occasionally."
Nita listened seriously, capturing every word Laras said.
"Logically, it's true that Wiko Suryo acted foolishly. But with the same logic, we can assume that Wiko Suryo has power equivalent to ours," Laras continued.
Laras kept explaining her thoughts to Nita. According to her, Wiko Suryo might be acting irrationally because he had high confidence and certain strengths that made him believe he could confront the World Market Trade Alliance.
Laras suspected that Wiko Suryo had allied with some powerful entity. This power likely offered something irresistible, something undoubtedly more valuable than the alliance he led, the Indonesian Alliance.
"Is there such a power, Sis?" Nita asked, her face curious.
"I'm sure there's none from the human alliances on the Blue Planet. But who knows about other races out there," Laras answered seriously.
"Well... so what should we do, Sis? Should we go to the Indonesian Alliance Island to take over?" Nita asked again.
"Yes, of course. Why not?" Laras replied firmly.
After discussing Nita's issues, Laras began recounting her experiences and journeys in the foreign realms she had visited.
"I once encountered a race whose true form resembled a ball..." said Laras, describing a race similar to slimes.
The slime race had an original form that was round and squishy. Their strength was terrifying because they could change shape very quickly. Especially the high-level slimes, their shape-shifting could be very strange and accompanied by extraordinary power.
"I also visited a realm ruled by elves. Their faces are so beautiful and enchanting... I'll take you there someday," Laras explained, continuing to share her experiences with Nita.
"Wow, Sister Laras has visited many places," Nita said in awe.
"Alright, next time I'll come with you, Sis."
"Don't worry, I'll let you know next time," Laras replied with a smile.
The two women spent more than two hours in Laras's family garden, sharing stories. Occasionally, a servant came to refill the food, and sometimes they talked about their past on Earth.
From Laras's stories, Nita knew that Laras came from a well-off family in Kalimantan, Indonesia. Their family was among the elite, or could be considered nobility in the region. Laras also shared about her school days and activities when she was still on Earth. Laras was very fond of playing badminton; she once represented her school in a competition.
Laras also felt she got to know Nita better because of their frequent conversations like this. Undeniably, she also felt closer to Lein, albeit indirectly.
