Chapter 399 Fish Spa

Chapter 399 Fish Spa

*SPLASH!*

'I need to get out of here quickly!' Shye inwardly thought, his brain working at unimaginable speeds as he tried to think of how to instantly get out of his current sticky situation.

As he pondered, Shye remained oblivious to a Bornoc Tiderider sneaking up behind him. He only became aware of the creature when it was too late to evade its biting attack.

'Crap!'

*CHOMP!*

'W-What? T-that's it?'

Shye anticipated excruciating pain from the Tiderider's sneak attack, but to his surprise, he experienced only a strange sense of comfort as the terrifying creature's jaws chewed on his left forearm.

He truly felt that he was inside an underwater spa.

'Ahh…who knew fish spas could be this comfortable?' Shye inwardly thought as more Bornoc tideriders converged at his location, viciously slashing and biting at him in hopes of ripping him apart—akin to a school of piranhas.

'Mhmm…I can stay here for hours!'

As Shye enjoyed the free massage, Luna swiftly plunged back into the water, determined to rescue the newcomer who had once saved her from the brink of danger.

She couldn't believe that Shye would do such a thing.

Despite her deep gratitude for being rescued from a perilous predicament, the thought of allowing Shye to perish for her sake weighed heavily on her heart, casting a shadow over any hope of peaceful rest for nights to come.

Her heroic spirit could never accept it.

*SPLASH!*

Unfortunately, her hopes of saving Shye immediately shattered into a thousand pieces as soon as she opened her eyes.

The ashen-haired rookie…was already being mauled by more than 20 tideriders and he wasn't even moving.

"CROWLEY!!!"

A look of desperation emerged on her face, as though the horrifying scene in front of her triggered unpleasant memories of the past—ones that she fervently wished to avoid reliving or confronting ever again. Experience more content on empire

However, just when she was about to swim forward to help Shye, multiple arms dragged her back to the shores of the small island.

"Luna! Don't be stupid! He sacrificed himself for you! You can't simply throw it away again!"

"Ulfreign is right! Luna, Crowley showed us his bravery and he would live on in our hearts forever. Let us honor his sacrifice and carry on!"

Ulfreign and the other party members spoke highly of Shye, however, deep inside, they were gloating at his misfortune.

None of them liked him and they all thought that he was nothing but an arrogant liability.

Hence, as though their thoughts were synchronized, all five promptly intervened to prevent Luna from rescuing Shye, callously carrying out their actions under the guise of honoring the newcomer's supposed heroic sacrifice for the party's greater benefit.

"NO!! LET GO OF ME!! I CAN STILL SAVE HIM!! GET OFF ME!!"

Luna fiercely struggled against her teammates, managing to get them off one by one through sheer will, strength, and desperation.

It took her an entire two minutes before she was able to break free of their restraints.

Sadly for her, the heartless bastards were just as determined to let Shye die under the overwhelming attacks of the Bornocs.

"Mana vines!"

"Shadow restriction!"

They even went as far as to use restriction skills just to give the damned Bornocs more time to kill Shye.

"You bastards!! If something happens to Crowley!!"

Meanwhile, the rookie who should be dying by now was leisurely tapping away underwater.

[Congratulations on completing the quest: Hunt: Bornoc Tideriders! You've earned 200 points as a reward!]

[You have accepted the quest: Hunt: Bornocs!]

[Congratulations on completing the quest: Hunt: Bornocs! You've earned 150 points as a reward!]

'Sigh...if only I could stay here for as long as I wanted...'

He could farm points like crazy!

Unfortunately, it seemed that their heroic party leader was already going crazy so he had to at least show Luna that he was fine.

Otherwise, she might throw her own life away when there was no need to.

SPURT!

[Congratulations…]

Completing one last regular quest, Shye stored his greatswords back in the system's inventory, replacing them with two elemental staffs.

'Rush Stab!'

He then targeted Ulfreign's head using one of his gap closer skills, allowing him to leap out of the water as though he was a tiderider himself.

Since his target was busy trying to restrain Luna with a restriction skill, the guy didn't notice Shye, who was flying through the air at unbelievable speeds while smiling wickedly.

'Hahaha! You bastard...I finally got an excuse to hit your ugly face...'

BONK!

The sounds of cracking cheekbones resounded across the shores of the small island as the blunt part of Shye's elemental staffs made intimate contact with Ulfreign's face, mercilessly destroying both his nose and his cheekbones.

And since everything happened too fast, they all thought that Ulfreign was attacked by some kind of variant Bornoc, only to find out that the blur was none other than Shye, the rookie who they believed to have already perished beneath the water.

"You…You're still alive?!"

"Oh? My bad, my bad. I was stuck in a dangerous situation so I hope you guys can understand my actions. I definitely didn't do it on purpose..."

"Ughh…what the f*ck was that? You! You dare hit me?! Wait…You're alive?"

"CROWLEY!! YOU'RE ALIVE!!"

The subsequent events were quite chaotic, fortunately, the Bornocs didn't attack them while they were unfocused.

Well…it was more like they were bound by some sort of dungeon rules as the tideriders simply stared hatefully at the adventurer party, not daring to take one step into the island.

A few moments later, they all returned to the depths and the vast expanse of water returned to its initial calmness.

No one would ever guess that a deadly battle had just taken place.

"Crowley! What happened back there?! I saw you being mauled by more than twenty of those aquatic creatures!"

"A-Ahh…hahaha…well, let's just say that their attacks were weaker than we all thought…"

Luna, astute as she was, quickly discerned that Shye was hesitant to reveal his secrets, particularly to their... unreliable... companions who were not affiliated with their guild.

Hence, despite her curiosity, she simply nodded at Shye's answer and dropped the matter.

"Thank you for saving me back there, Crowley, and well done on getting out of the water alive. Moving on, now that we're all here, let's venture further into the dungeon."
