Chapter 352: Bamboozlement Of The Century
Chapter 352: Bamboozlement Of The Century
'Tch, why is this bastard walking closer?' Megan thought inwardly as she slowly backed off, feeling the pressure of Shye's menacing advance.
She kept telling herself that she wasn't scared of the arrogant prick, however, her body acted otherwise— a human's primal instinct when threatened by a stronger creature.
Arriving at "the optimal distance", Shye suddenly raised his left arm, nimbly moving his fingers to adapt a random menacing pose, ultimately leading to him accidentally doing a pran mudra finger pose.
Naturally, his movements meant nothing more than utter bullcrap, serving no purpose but to intimidate the crazy chick in front of him.
However, due to how masterful Shye was at bullshitting other people, Megan's sense of danger sent her false signals, prompting her to sprint away and avoid being cornered by Shye.
She didn't even realize that her expression had turned desperate, and the final vestiges of grace had already departed from her face.
Currently, she looked like a cornered rat. Explore new worlds at mvl
Well, it was the truth though as Shye could snap her in half with his bare hands once he captured her.
Fortunately for her, Shye had other plans.
Observing her desperate actions, Shye immediately gave chase, all while keeping up his bullshit of aiming his elemental staff at Megan while maintaining the pran mudra finger pose as though he was about to cast a spell that would obliterate her from the face of Adthiopia.
Megan, being a mage herself, was quite smart and her brain worked fast.
Noticing Shye's finger pose, an idea popped up in her mind—a bright one! She believed…
'Heh, this pose would probably allow me to channel my mana! Unfortunately for you, I'm too smart!' Megan thought inwardly as she raised her left arm, copying Shye's finger pose.
Seeing her actions, Shye almost burst out laughing as he immediately deduced what was going on in her head.
Still, for the sake of continuing the bullshit he started, Shye forcefully stifled his laugh, maintaining a stoic expression as he gave chase.
Inevitably, Shye caught up due to the disparity in physical attributes.
Shockingly, even though he was already in front of Megan, her face changed into a mocking smile, utterly confusing Shye.
Well, the reason why she was confident was because she already finished chanting and was ready to use the blink spell anytime.
Hence, she believed that Shye wouldn't be able to harm her with the spell he was about to cast.
Almost simultaneously, both mages yelled the name of their spells—one subconsciously, the other deliberately.
"Blink!"
"Fireball!"
Time seemed to slow down to a crawl for not only both rookies on the stage, but also for everyone who was watching.
After what seemed like an entire hour, the onlookers' eyes almost popped out of their sockets as they witnessed the most shocking mage spell in the history of Adthiopia—a single thought resonated in their minds:
'What part of that is a f*cking fireball?!'
Indeed. Shye Crowley, please answer the question in everyone's minds.
What part of whacking one's opponent's face with an elemental staff resembles a roaring ball of fire?
Megan, who thought that she would be dodging a fireball with her blink spell, never expected to get whacked squarely in the face.
Hence, the solid bonk immediately knocked her out cold.
She then inevitably fell backward due to the devastating force of the blunt blow powered by two hundred and twenty-four points of strength, causing her to plop on her back—her limbs spread eagle and her eyes: whited out.
"W-What a sinister move by Shye Crowley! Wilier than an old fox! More treacherous than a snake! A true devil incarnate!! Who?! Who would've thought that he was bluffing all this time and that even he couldn't cast a spell inside the purple world he created for himself?!
Megan Wolfe was caught way off guard and was defeated with a solid whack on the head in the semi-finals!! Shye Crowley, Balkrow's top-ranked rookie, advances to the finals!!"
Corey's voice, brimming with excitement, resounded loudly throughout Balkrow Arena, snapping people out of their disbelief and eliciting thunderous cheers and applause for Shye.
They simply couldn't believe that the official top-ranked Balkrow rookie in terms of guild contribution points, would have the guts to execute such a crazy plan in an all-important semi-finals match and actually win with it.
As a result, their respect for Shye deepened, as his determination to do whatever it took to win struck a chord with ordinary adventurers like them.
[Congratulations! You've earned 29,800 points!]
'Not bad…You've served your purpose, idiotic girl…' Shye mused as he calmly descended the stage under thousands of awestruck gazes, appearing as though pulling off the bamboozlement of the century was nothing but a daily occurrence to him.
Heck, even Mateo started to develop respect in his heart after witnessing Shye's antics, slowly liking the guy's unexpected craziness.
He didn't have the chance to gaze at Shye for long though as his match against Percy Phone was up next.
"What a wild match! But now, let's move on to the next semi-final bout. Who will face off against the illustrious yet cunning Shye Crowley next? Could it be our contestant making their way to the stage from the left? Let's give a warm welcome to Percy Phone!"
Percy donned a serene expression as he arrived at the center of the stage, appearing as though nothing in the world could shake him, not even Shye Crowley.
Noticing that Percy stood ready, Corey immediately shifted his attention to the rookie at the right side of the stage—the one expected to fight Shye Crowley for the rookie representative spot: Mateo Flameheart.
"And now! Introducing Raven's Blade's fallen king of rookies. He's here to reclaim his throne! Please welcome, ascending from the right side of the stage, the seventh-ranked rookie in all of Balkrow, Mateo Flameheart!!"
While Percy wore a calm expression, Mateo's fierce demeanor clearly conveyed: "I will be the one to represent Raven's Blade."
Truly akin to a fallen king who had returned to reclaim his throne from the usurper, Shye Crowley, treating Percy as nothing but another wall he would demolish on the path to regain supremacy amongst Raven's Blade rookies.
Witnessing the unfolding events, a deafening roar of cheers erupted as the two participants faced each other, locking eyes.
Both were clearly ready for the most intense, thrilling, and fierce battle of their lives.
Masterfully taking advantage of the onlookers' excitement, the referee delivered, jerking his arms upwards with fiery passion as everyone's most anticipated words made their way out of his mouth.
"Begin!"
