Chapter 350: Raven’s Blade Rookie Representative Selection Tournament: Semi-Finals!

[Congratulations! You've earned 15,632 points!]

'Tch…only half?' Shye thought and clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction. 'This midget was a bit too weak so…I guess my victory wasn't that impressive…'

Consoling himself, Shye walked down the stage, ignoring Chiizai who was struggling to descend the stage while sobbing with a bit of snot streaming down his nostrils.

Fortunately, his ever-reliable and loyal underlings quickly caught up and exited the arena with him, relieving a fair bit of his sadness.

Friendships. Truly a beautiful thing.

Still, Chiizai deserved what he got as he was the one who antagonized Shye first, even daring to resort to lying to save his face while attempting to sacrifice Shye's.

Well, Chiizai was quite the man.

Even though he was short, his heart was quite huge— supportive and loyal to his allies and friends, only, he often judged others harshly and disliked being outperformed by them.

Unbeknownst to the shrimp, this experience was one he would be thankful for in the future as it would mold him to be the man he always desired to be, allowing him to…finally capture the heart of the woman he loved for a long time.

However, that would be for the future, for now, he had to suffer and undergo a few essential changes in character.

Once Shye's match was done, next up was Megan's.

Again, her match wasn't that flashy, however, her maneuvers were very graceful, making it seem like nothing in the world could ever hope to catch her nimble figure, especially the warrior-class rookie in front of her, who in just five minutes, was already panting for breath and groaning in pain.

The guy was still standing but clearly, the match wouldn't last long.

And it indeed didn't, as two minutes later, the man failed to dodge and was impaled by an enormous glacial spike, turning him into an azure ray of light shortly after.

Subsequently, in the next two matches, both Percy and Mateo won, stirring up a huge commotion amongst the crowd as for the first time in history, three first-years made it to the semifinals with only one second-year remaining among the initial 26.

"CAN, YOU, BELIEVE IT! STRONG!! RAVEN'S BLADE'S FIRST YEARS ARE JUST TOO STRONG!! NOW, ONLY MATEO REMAINS TO DEFEND THE HONOR OF THE SECOND-YEAR ROOKIES!! WILL HE BE ABLE TO DO IT?!" Corey's voice rang true, inducing both anxiety and anticipation in the hearts of the second years.

If Mateo could miraculously win here, they would be able to raise their heads high against the first years, however, should he lose…their batch would appear incompetent and way fewer people would respect them.

Hence, Mateo had to win not only for himself but also for his entire batch.

Only two hours passed since the Raven's Blade Rookie Representative Selection Tournament began, yet, it was already the semifinals and the next matches were scorching hot:

Shye Crowley versus Megan Wolfe

Percy Phone versus Mateo Flameheart

The crowd was curious as to how Shye would deal with the slippery and graceful Megan Wolfe, however, that was it.

The exciting semi-final match for them was Percy Phone, the first-ranked rookie of this year's rookie admission exam, versus Mateo Flameheart, the first-ranked rookie of last year's rookie admission exam and seventh-ranked overall in Balkrow City.

On paper, Mateo's achievements were way more impressive compared to Percy's, and so, he should be able to school Percy quite easily provided that they were both warriors and tachi-users.

However, Percy Phone was quite the mysterious individual and his fights always ended up with him winning rather easily without moving much.

Hence, the audience couldn't help but give Percy the benefit of the doubt.

There were even a few people who bet all of their savings on his victory, seemingly very confident of Percy's victory as though they knew something others don't.

Since the Percy versus Mateo match was quite the banger, the Shye and Megan Wolfe match was forced to become the opening card.

Shye didn't care much about the match arrangements though as he did not doubt that he would be the one crowned as Raven's Blade's Rookie Representative.

Naturally, Megan Wolfe had other ideas, believing that she would be the one to move on to the finals.

She couldn't deny that Shye Crowley was strong, however, she had her trump cards and was confident that as long as she could hit Shye a few times, he would collapse just like everyone else.

In fact, she even considered Percy a greater threat than Shye because she had already suffered a defeat at his hands.

Therefore, Megan made extensive preparations to improve her odds against Percy, while putting in only minimal effort when preparing for Shye—a rather massive mistake.

Still, she confidently ascended the stage as Corey once again introduced her, masterfully playing with her staff while staring playfully at Shye.

Unfortunately for her, such shallow intimidation tactics were never going to work on Shye, who was already in the middle of checking her status window.

Hence, he simply sneered at her in disdain as he ascended the stage.

Observing Megan's extensive collection of spells, Shye gained insight into her combat style and started understanding her strategy on how she planned to defeat him.

'Heh, quite feasible, if I was a normal chantless mage relying solely on instantaneous casts and the sheer power of my spells, that is.'
