Chapter 339: Rank-up Quest
Chapter 339: Rank-up Quest
Shye was surprised about Seira's decision to temporarily take a break from adventuring since from what he knew, she was rushing to rank up as fast as possible.
'Oh well, seems like she's on track if she could afford to take a one-month break."
Putting Seira's matter aside, Shye fell into deep thought as he recalled that he earned a total of 3,405 points in one quest.
To rank up to Ruby, he needed to earn a total of 7,000 guild contribution points and he was currently at 6,405 points.
Suddenly, reaching the Ruby rank before the rookie representative selection tournament and Balkrow City's Rookie Tournament seemed easily attainable.
He only needed 595 points, after all.
"40 points to all attributes plus 300,000 points…" Shye muttered the mandatory quest's rewards in excitement.
Forty points to all attributes was an absurdly huge increase in stats.
It was likely enough to make him as strong as a diamond-ranked adventurer, especially considering the tremendous bonuses he would also receive from his rare talent, Greatsword Meister.
As for the extra 300,000 points as a reward…Well, he could only imagine the explosive growth he would experience.
Eager to rank up, Shye swiftly returned to the branch headquarters and quickly took another (B-) ranked quest.

Meanwhile, at the city square, some particularly eager individuals who frequently checked the ranking boards were going about their almost daily routine when a significant change suddenly occurred.
A name who was recently kicked out of the top ten rookie rankings due to inactivity popped up and soared to the top of the rankings.
"H-HEY! D-DID YOU GUYS JUST SEE THAT?!"
"Yeah man, what the f*ck was that?! Do you guys think this Shye Crowley guy is cheating?"
"I-I don't think anyone can cheat the guild contribution points but I also don't know how the guy is doing this!"
"The last time I saw this guy's name was when he caused a slight commotion for suddenly grabbing the ninth spot with a little less than two months of adventuring!"
"Yeah, his points back then were around 3,000, I believe. How the hell did he earn 3,405 points in one go?!"
As for the person in question, who was already heading towards the Balkrow City gates for another random (B-) hunting quest, a notification suddenly popped up before him.
[Congratulations! You've earned 34 points!]
[Congratulations! You've earned 53 points!]
'Oh? What the f*ck? Why are so many people admiring me? And from where?' Shye mused upon seeing the notification in front of him.
He wouldn't reject free points, hence, he decided to loiter around the city gates for a bit and see how many points he would receive.
What he didn't expect was that, somehow, the random unknown thing making random people admire him, would blow up.
[Congratulations! You've earned 102 points!]
[Congratulations! You've earned 158 points!]
…
[Congratulations! You've earned 562 points!]
…
[Congratulations! You've earned 1042 points!]
…
[Congratulations! You've earned 1,567 points!]
'W-What the hell is going on?! What heroic sh*t did I do to deserve this?!'
Finally, after around ten more minutes, the notifications stopped.
'W-Well, a total of around 7,800 points? I'll take that any day!'
Happy about the recent random influx of system points, Shye headed towards the nearest Avenida Advanced Adventurer Zone with a smile.
The zone was only around three hours away from Balkrow, hence, Shye quickly arrived.
In addition to his overwhelming confidence, Shye's enthusiasm for this quest was way off the charts so he didn't even prepare before walking towards the area where the Hellspawn Bull-Lizard that he was targeting.
Shye already killed one before in the Advanced Adventurer Zone near Colzen City, albeit through wits and a bit of luck, so he already knew the creature's attack patterns.
He was confident that he could take the monstrous lizard down easily as he only needed 595 more points to rank up, thus, there was no need for him to select a strong creature to hunt, opting for a weaker (B-) target instead.
After another five hours of walking, Shye arrived at the area indicated on the quest.
The developments matched his enthusiasm as shortly after arriving, he immediately found footprints belonging to his targeted creature.
Only, Shye was a bit confused as this footprint was way larger than the footprint of the one he fought back at the Advanced Adventurer Zone near Colzen.
"Tch, could the one I fought back then have been a juvenile?" Shye muttered as he carefully followed the footprint.

It seemed that this mission would be a wee bit harder than he expected.
Well, it didn't change the fact that the creature was (B-) ranked, hence, he didn't worry too much.
Finally, after meticulously following the monstrous lizard's trail, he heard a familiar roar reverberate behind the dense thickets on his left.
"ROOOAAAR!!"
Subconsciously turning his head to look with a smile, Shye carefully peered out of the bushes, narrowing his eyes into slits as he looked at the ridiculously huge Hellspawn Bull-Lizard.
'What the f*ck? This thing should be at least five meters tall…' Shye inwardly cursed upon seeing the creature that was almost twice the size of the one he took down.
Now, he was sure that the one he killed was nothing but a juvenile.
'Appraisal!'

Seeing the monstrous lizard's stats, Shye inwardly heaved a sigh of relief.
Due to its unbelievable size, Shye thought that it would be stronger than the Titanium Demon Ape, fortunately, it was considerably weaker.
Moreover, its skillset was truly way too limited.
Shye simply couldn't see himself losing to this creature as he had more than five ways of toying with and defeating it.
Knowing that he could easily defeat his adversary, Shye opted for the head-on approach.
Blue, three-dimensional slash marks that seemed to constantly warp the area in front of it lingered menacingly in the air as Shye drew out Mithra, grasping its handles with his left hand.
Almost simultaneously, Shye took out his other greatsword, Adamance, causing scarlet embers to roar fiercely, raising the temperature around Shye's right hand to alarming degrees as he slashed both greatswords forward.
Since Shye didn't care about using the element of surprise to his advantage, the bull-lizard easily spotted him.
*ROOOAAAR!!*
It was in the middle of a nice meal, hence, it was utterly infuriated after realizing that it was being attacked by a measly human.
Unfortunately, anger and a straightforward charge were often not enough to overcome a confident, skilled, and strong adventurer.
After easily baiting out the creature's attack, Shye nimbly evaded to the left, skillfully pivoting his right foot before jumping on top of the Hellspawn Bull-Lizard.
From that point on, it was simply a one-sided slaughter as Shye slashed his heart out.
