Chapter 330: Seira Versus Bandit Squad Captains
Chapter 330: Seira Versus Bandit Squad Captains
"I-I killed him…I actually killed him…" Seira muttered with listless eyes, her greatsword almost slipping out of her hands.
If not for Shye's timely "horrified scream", then Ice probably would've attacked.
Should that happen, their plan would surely go down the drain.
For a time, Seira lingered near the entrance, casting frantic glances around as if she had lost her sanity.
Shye knew she needed some time to recover, hence, he did everything he could, slowly decreasing his speed and allowing Ice, a vice-squad captain, to overtake him.
Like this, he could simply follow them and take note of the important locations inside the lair.
What the young bandit said was true.
The lair wasn't that huge and it was easy to navigate through the pathways inside.
Hence, after a short while of running, Shye quickly found the prison where the bandits kept the young girls.
Seeing their listless faces as he passed through, an intense wave of fury consumed Shye's heart.
He wanted to slaughter all of these darned bandits right here, right now, however, he couldn't as he at least needed to know where the boss' room was.
Unfortunately, small as the hideout may be, he didn't have the luck of passing through the Conn-Thor's room.
Within a few brief minutes, their small group assembled four squad captains.
"Who?! Who messed up?!" One of the squad captains named Byson, raged.
Naturally, Byson wouldn't let go of this chance to point fingers at Shye.
"Him! Captain Byson! That idiot was the one who led the intruder here! And now, Captain Rain is dead!"
Hearing Ice's words, Byson slowly turned and looked at Shye menacingly, staring straight into his eyes as though Byson was peering through his soul.
Shye felt the urge to slap the sh*t out of the pretentious captain, however, for the sake of the quest, he couldn't.
Therefore, rather than slapping Byson, Shye feigned horror.
"C-Captain Byson! Please! Spare me! I'm just a recruit! I'll do anything!" Shye "pleaded", appearing extremely pitiful.
Byson, who liked the feeling of being feared, instantly developed a liking for Shye, who "knows his place".
"Fine, I shall give you a chance."
"Amir, Hearns, Fox, and all of you, including you, recruit! Follow me, let's kill the darned delusional invader! Ice, go tell the other squad captains to help!" Byson assertively ordered, immediately taking control of the situation as though he were the bandits' boss himself.
Naturally, the three other squad captains: Amir, Hearns, and Fox, didn't like the way Byson ordered them as though they were his lackeys.
However, Byson was indeed the highest in seniority amongst the four of them, thus, they had no choice but to comply.
'Let's see if you can still act this way once the other captains arrive!' The vengeful Amir thought as the four of them, along with a few lackeys, rushed towards the right entrance.
Meanwhile, Seira had already recovered.
Though somewhat naive and tender-hearted, she harbored a resilient and experienced spirit, forged from the personal challenges she currently faced.
The thought that saved her from the guilt of killing someone was: 'Everything I'm doing is for my family.'
Rain was clearly out to get her and if she didn't kill him first, she would suffer a fate worse than death and the fate of her family would be sealed.
Hence, her murdering someone was justified.
Furthermore, the individual she eliminated was a despicable person, and Adthiopia was undoubtedly better off with one less individual of such garbage values.
Nonetheless, although she was able to regather her wits, her hands and legs were still trembling from the shock.
To make things worse, she could hear heavy footsteps—likely from the other squad captains.
'I-I need to prepare…'
With shaking hands, Seira forcefully gripped her greatsword and assumed a battle stance—her eyes appearing lost and uncertain.
Witnessing her courageous actions, Shye inwardly applauded Seira in his heart.
'As long as you make it past this day, things will get better…' He inwardly thought as he sprinted along with the bandits.
A few moments later, the bandit squad captains, along with Shye and the other lackeys, arrived in front of Seira.
Seeing Shye among those who returned, Seira inwardly breathed a sigh of relief.
As of now, her pillar of moral support was her invincible big boss, and she truly didn't know if she could take control of her nerves if he wasn't among the ones who returned.
Still, it didn't mean that she would obtain immediate help.
Seira knew that she had to defend herself, well, at least until two more squad captains arrived.
She already killed one of them so the two of them only needed to wait for two more squad captains before Shye could help her kill everyone on sight.
With a clear goal in mind, a hint of resolve glimmered in Seira's eyes.
She was still distressed, however, she would fight for her life in the name of her suffering family, and she was ready to kill whoever she needed to.
"Hahahaha! This is the intruder who killed Rain?! What the f*ck happened? Isn't your squad captain a bit too incompetent?!" Byson mocked, pulling his mace out of his spatial bag as he did so, prompting the other three captains to follow suit and retrieve their weapons of choice: a bow, an elemental staff, and a katar.
Shortly after, Byson and Fox both rushed toward Seira, maneuvering in a zigzag pattern, while Amir unleashed a barrage of arrows and Hearns began chanting at the same time. Stay updated via m-v l|-NovelBin.net
Witnessing their fierce assault, Shye couldn't help but prepare himself to step in at any time.
If he had to throw half the plan out the window, then so be it.
Five squad captains were already a sizable harvest anyway.
However, the problem was, if the two of them only managed to kill five here, then things would only be more dangerous for Seira later on.
After all, once Shye began fighting the top dogs of the bandit group, there was no way for him to guarantee Seira's safety.
*CLANG!*
Seira's greatsword clashed against Byson's mace.
Surprisingly, they matched each other in raw strength, leaving Byson completely stunned.
He thought that defeating the little girl would be a breeze, however, it seemed that he was wrong as the female intruder was at least as strong as him.
'Well, no matter…' Byson inwardly thought as he followed Fox's movements with his eyes, signaling for him to finish Seira off.
Successfully finding an opportune time to attack, Fox appeared behind Seira, viciously stabbing his katar at her neck in hopes of at least incapacitating her in one hit.
He was a veteran scout, and he knew that Seira didn't have any other options but to receive the stab.
Only, he didn't expect that a thin blue layer of mana would suddenly cover her, causing him and his katar to simply pass through.
Hilariously, the one he stabbed was Byson, whose blood gushed out from the harrowing shoulder stab wound.
"AAARRGHH!! YOU IDIOT! WHY DID YOU STAB ME?!" Byson raged.
"I-I apologize, you saw what happened…"
While the two squad captains argued, the remaining two continued launching projectiles, keeping Seira on the move and leaving her no room to catch her breath.
Byson and Fox temporarily set the matter of accidentally hitting a comrade aside to focus on cornering Seira.
What they didn't expect was how resilient the young girl was.
She simply refused to be defeated!
Although she suffered quite a few arrows and spell wounds here and there, they were nothing lethal.
On the other hand, Byson and Fox simply failed to effectively corner her and deal the killing blow due to that pesky bluish pass-through skill of hers.
Just like this, five minutes quickly passed.
At this point, Byson was already so frustrated.
"Where the fuck are the others?! We at least need one more captain and this little fly is toast!" He raged, cursing at the other squad captains for being so late.
At last, after another grueling minute, three additional squad captains arrived, bringing a smile to both Byson's and Seira's faces, as both sides believed that the arrival of the three captains would seal the bleak fate of their adversaries.
'It's your time to shine, boss!'
