Chapter 304: Soaring Raven’s Promise
Chapter 304: Soaring Raven’s Promise
Hearing Shye's demands, Corvus couldn't agree right away, pondering about the repercussions of agreeing to the super rookie's demands.
'1800 guild contribution points each which basically means an instant rank up for him, an additional 50,000 silver coins, and access to the special lounge on the second floor…'
Shye's demands were a bit excessive, however, Corvus was impressed.
He knew that these are exactly what Shye needed to grow to his peak as soon as possible and for the young man himself to recognize it demonstrated his exceptional foresight.
His primary concern had always been "not giving Shye Crowley preferential treatment", but in this case, the super rookie earned the rewards himself, and so, the situation could not be considered as him favoring Shye over others.
Hence, after around ten seconds of pondering, Corvus decided to give the rookie what he wanted.
The guild master knew that decisions on such matters were completely within his jurisdiction and was Soaring Raven's way of giving him both a trial and an opportunity.
If he could prove his excellence by nurturing the ace representative of this year's champion academy—make sure he wouldn't end up like the usual "buried academy talents"- then his branch would receive way more attention and resources from the main headquarters.
Corvus understood the immense responsibility and opportunity bestowed upon him by the main guild master. After all, he had been eagerly anticipating this opportunity for years.
Naturally, he would show everyone his talents as a guild master and that would begin today, by giving Shye the excessive rewards he wanted.
Well, seeing how wise Shye was for his age, Corvus believed that he wouldn't have to do much to secure a higher rank and more resources for his branch.
"Fine, since this is my mistake, I shall not be stingy. You may inform Shauna of the results of our discussion and show her this token as proof."
Hearing the guild master agree, Shye was on cloud nine.
With just this one specific reward, he accomplished three things: rank up to platinum, save enough money to request twin greatswords from Meido, and gain access to higher-difficulty quests—the ones in the special lounge quest board.
Satisfied with the results of the negotiation, Shye flashed a bright smile towards Guild Master Corvus.
"Thank you, guild master!"
Naturally, such a bright countenance affected Corvus, making him inwardly chuckle.
"Well, then! If there's nothing else, I'll claim my rewards from Miss Shauna. Goodbye, Guild Master Corvus!" Shye continued with excitement written all over his face.
Right after turning around to exit Corvus' office, someone knocked on the door.
"You may enter."
Upon hearing the guild master's confirmation, the individual waiting outside promptly entered with a loud creak.
"Hello, Guild Master Corvus. This parcel is from Raven's Blade Main Headquarters, addressed to someone named Shye Crowley." The delivery man said with a slight smile.
Naturally, Shye felt excited after hearing what the man said, fully knowing what the contents of the parcel were.
'Soaring Raven's promised gifts are finally here!'
"Perfect timing, please place it on top of my desk," Corvus said respectfully, not disrespecting the delivery man in the slightest.
Because of the esteemed status and strength of adventurers compared to the common populace, many of them tend to regard those who have mundane jobs with disdain.
Hence, Corvus' respectful attitude made respect burgeon in Shye's heart, compelling him to like the guild master a bit more.
At that moment, Shye knew he was in good hands.
'Guild Master Soaring Raven is indeed an excellent individual.' Shye thought, impressed by the main guild master's eye for people.
*THUD*
After placing the carefully wrapped box on top of Corvus' desk with a dull thud, the delivery man bowed, leaving the office soon after.
Subsequently, once the courier was gone, Corvus looked at Shye, nearly causing him to burst into laughter at Shye's reaction.
The young man…looked foolish.
Observing his current silly expression, with hands rubbing excitedly and a foolish smile adorning his face, one would never guess that this guy was the ace representative of Valenzia's strongest academy.
In the end, Corvus couldn't stifle his laughter.
"Hahahaha! Wipe that stupid expression off your face, will you? Aren't you the ace representative of a champion academy?" Corvus said, snapping Shye back to reality.
The excited smile remained steadfast on his face though.
"Hahahaha, I apologize, Guild Master Corvus. It's just that I've been waiting for Guild Master Soaring Raven to send the goods, you know?" Shye honestly replied, further dissolving the thinning ice barrier between the two of them.
"Hahahaha! Don't worry, I understand. May I see the contents as well?"
"Yeah, sure!"
After obtaining Shye's approval, even Guild Master Corvus felt excited.
He was unaware of what Soaring Raven had offered to secure this year's top academy prospect ahead of the top ten guilds, but now, he was about to find out.
Naturally, he wouldn't be so impolite as to open the box himself, wisely waiting for the intended recipient to do so.
Excited, Shye walked closer and carefully removed the simple box's lid, revealing three eye-catching items that utterly surprised Corvus.
'W-What the hell? You tell me to not give him any preferential treatment…but what the f*ck is this?!' the Balkrow branch guild master inwardly cursed as he gazed at the three items. 'One unique-tier warrior skill, a ruby tier, high-grade elemental staff, and a permanent blessing of greater strength?!'
Even he would covet the last one.
'No wonder this guy would agree… However, what sets him apart that the guild master decided to go all out this year?' Corvus wondered.
Every year, there were ace representatives of champion academies but Soaring Raven didn't make a move to try and secure them, making Corvus think that this guy might be one of the strongest rookies in the history of Valenzia.
"Hehehe, looks like Guild Master Soaring Raven gave everything he promised! Well, then, Guild Master Corvus. I shall take my leave."
"Y-Yeah sure, Just make sure to attend the rookie representative selection tournament four months from now okay?"
"Okay."
