Chapter 428: 427 If you know what’s good for you
After lunch, Gu Kai followed Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran back to the office, sitting on the couch in his office, calling Luo Haofeng.
Mo Xiuchen was trimming Wen Ran’s nails with focused and tender eyes. The cause of it was that Wen Ran’s middle finger on the right hand had a hangnail. After he had cut it off for her, he held her hand and insisted on trimming her nails as well.
Wen Ran’s nails were beautiful, matched by her slender and fair fingers, emanating a healthy pink glow. Mo Xiuchen held her fair fingers in one hand, nail clippers in the other, with a gentle look in his eyes, his movements skilled and light.
Wen Ran wore a smile, her eyes tenderly gazing upon Mo Xiuchen, as she looked at him this way, her heart filled to the brim with happiness and sweetness.
On the other couch, Gu Kai glanced at Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran, feeling as though he had been excluded from their world. The web of love they spun for each other enveloped them, separating them from the rest of the world and its people.
While he was on the phone with Luo Haofeng, Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran didn’t even look up at him.
Once he finished the call, Gu Kai leaned indolently into the couch, taking in the beautiful scene before his eyes with a flash of a smile in his eyes. Suddenly, he took his phone and surreptitiously recorded them.
“Ranran, this hand.”
Once Mo Xiuchen finished trimming Wen Ran’s right hand, he let go and reached for her left hand.
Wen Ran gave him a smile and extended her left hand without hesitation, “Should I get my nails done too?”
“No need, they look fine as they are.”
Mo Xiuchen dismissed the idea without giving it a second thought.
In his eyes, she was perfect, needing no makeup, no trendy nail art, no perfume, and even simple clothing couldn’t distract from her beauty.
How could he not love her as she was?
Wen Ran hadn’t really intended to get her nails done, she wasn’t particularly interested in that, but hearing Mo Xiuchen say this, her heart was as sweet as if she had drunk honey.
“Well, then I won’t.”
Mo Xiuchen gave her an indulgent smile and continued trimming her nails.
Another ten minutes passed, and he finished trimming her last nail. He held her hand for a long moment, only satisfied when he lifted the corners of his lips and put away the nail clippers.
Wen Ran playfully thanked him and then turned to look at Gu Kai on the other couch who was leisurely putting away his phone. Her eyes glittered as she asked, “Older Brother Gu, what did Luo Haofeng say over the phone?”
Gu Kai replied with a hint of complaint, “I thought you two had forgotten about my existence, but it seems you do remember that I had a phone call with Ah Feng. It’s good to see, Ranran, that you’re not totally enthralled by Mo Xiuchen.”
Wen Ran’s cheeks tinged with red while Mo Xiuchen interjected, “If you knew what was good for you, you would have left a while ago.”
“Ha ha, a good one about knowing better and leaving.”
Gu Kai was not angry but rather amused. He was used to Mo Xiuchen’s harshness. After giving him a glance, he said to Wen Ran, ”
“Ranran, Ah Feng went to the hotel where Bai Xiaoxiao was having her blind date and criticised her prospective match from head to toe.”
“What?”
Wen Ran stared at Gu Kai in astonishment, just as she straightened up, she found herself being pulled back into Mo Xiuchen’s arms. She didn’t pay attention to Mo Xiuchen, only continued to look at Gu Kai, “Isn’t Luo Haofeng messing around? Aunt Qiao must be really angry, right?”
“Yes, she probably is. From the tone of Luo Haofeng’s voice, he seems to have offended Bai Xiaoxiao’s mom this time.”
Gu Kai’s attitude was casual, as it wasn’t his problem to worry about. Moreover, Luo Haofeng didn’t seem to care about it on the phone either.
Mo Xiuchen glanced at Gu Kai, a subtle light flashing in his eyes. He spoke gently, “Ranran, if you’re worried about Xiaoxiao, I’ll take you to her house to check on her. We don’t have much to do this afternoon, you can go keep her company and find out what’s going on.”
With Bai Xiaoxiao on her mind, Wen Ran immediately agreed when she heard Mo Xiuchen’s suggestion, “Okay.”
Gu Kai gave a faint smile, reassuringly said, “Ranran, you don’t need to worry too much. From my perspective, even if Xiaoxiao doesn’t appreciate Luo Haofeng making a scene, she may not really want to go on a blind date.”
“Ah Kai, are you going back to the hospital, or are you staying here? I’m taking Ranran to Bai Xiaoxiao’s house.”
Mo Xiuchen stood up pulling Wen Ran up with him. He had been planning to send Wen Ran away for the afternoon anyway, so this was perfect.
Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, also got up and said, “I’ll go with you guys, and then head back to the hospital later.”
On the way to Bai Xiaoxiao’s house, Wen Ran phoned her and gathered that her mom was indeed furious.
Wen Ran comforted her, telling her she was on her way, Bai Xiaoxiao immediately cheered up, “Ranran, you’re such a lifesaver. Now when you come, I’ll get a break from my mom’s scolding.”
After hanging up, Wen Ran wore a smile, whispering, “Just like Older Brother Gu said, Aunt Qiao is angry, but Xiaoxiao didn’t seem too upset about Luo Haofeng’s actions today. She feels that with Luo Haofeng stirring things up like this, Aunt Qiao won’t arrange another blind date for her anytime soon.”
“I told you not to worry about it.”
Gu Kai raised his eyebrows in pride. His expression seemed to say: listen to your elder brother, he’s always right.
“Where’s Luo Haofeng now?”
Seeing the smug look on Gu Kai’s face, Wen Ran couldn’t help but laugh.
“When I was on the phone, he was still eating in the hotel where Xiaoxiao had her blind date. He had effectively chased everyone away and was now happily eating alone.”
Wen Ran twitched her mouth, “Luo Haofeng can still eat happily? If he truly likes Xiaoxiao, instead of trying to please his future mother-in-law, but actually getting on her bad side, he will regret it.”
“Even if he doesn’t offend Bai Xiaoxiao’s mother, it does not mean he would be automatically acknowledged.”
Mo Xiuchen, in his slow and unhurried manner, added to the conversation, however, Ah Feng this time, seems to be on the Bai family’s blacklist.
The Aston slowly pulled up in front of the Bai family’s house. Wen Ran looked at Mo Xiuchen and Gu Kai and gently said, “Older Brother Gu, Mo Xiuchen, don’t come in with me. Aunt Qiao is in a bad mood right now. I can go in by myself.”
Given they were good friends of Luo Haofeng, they might get caught in the crossfire if they went in at this time.
Mo Xiuchen glanced at Gu Kai and, seeing him say nothing, he unbuckled Wen Ran’s seat belt for her, reminding her with a smile, “Call me if you need anything. I’ll pick you up after work.”
“Okay!”
Wen Ran returned his smile, opened the car door and got out.
Once she entered the Bai family’s house, Gu Kai finally withdrew his gaze, turning to look at Mo Xiuchen, “Did you deliberately send Ranran away?”
Mo Xiuchen smirked, “You noticed, huh? Mo Zixuan already agreed to call Xiao Wenqing in the afternoon. I want to use this chance to locate them, in addition, he will certainly want me to sign the agreement, which I don’t want Ranran to know about.”
“Did Mo Zixuan agree?”
Gu Kai’s eyes subtly shifted, speaking in a somewhat surprised tone.
