Chapter 206
Chapter 206
C206 – Rescue
“Brother, we represent the Konoha Corporation from Edinburgh. Would you kindly…?”
The buzz-cut Grandmaster began to extend his courtesy to Loong Chen, only to be abruptly cut off mid-sentence.
“Three seconds have elapsed. You’ve missed your opportunity,” Loong Chen’s tone remained as composed as ever, instilling terror in Grandmaster and his companions.
Despite the calmness in Loong Chen’s voice, Grandmaster and his cohorts trembled with fear.
With a sharp crack, Loong Chen applied slight pressure, snapping the neck of the one-armed Grandmaster.
His gaze betrayed a sense of reluctance. Having finally attained the rank of Grandmaster through arduous cultivation, he met his demise in the wilderness before experiencing the life befitting a Grandmaster.
The bitter taste of unwillingness lingered within him.
Yet, his unwillingness was futile. Death had already claimed him.
“Withdraw!”
The Grandmaster with cropped hair issued a decisive command. The remaining three Grandmasters dispersed hastily in different directions—east, south, and west.
Seizing Miss Yini, he sprinted northward.
Despite Loong Chen’s formidable prowess, he was but one individual. As long as one of them made it back safely, the corporation would undoubtedly send reinforcements upon learning of the situation.
“Hmph, you think you can escape?”
Loong Chen’s disdainful snort heralded the rush of Earth Superpower into the ground.
In an instant, three Earth Spikes emerged, piercing through the hearts of the three Grandmaster warriors.
The buzz-cut Grandmaster, concerned for Miss Yini’s safety, resolved to take action himself.
Loong Chen materialized before the buzz-cut Grandmaster with a swift movement.
“Stay back, or I’ll harm her,” the buzz-cut Grandmaster warned, his hand resting on Miss Yini’s neck.
Witnessing his three companions perish moments ago, he recognized that his survival hinged on this course of action.
Having observed the young man’s concern for Miss Yini’s well-being, he chose to exploit it by leveraging her life as leverage.
“You’re using her as leverage against me?”
Loong Chen found this tactic peculiar. Weren’t they tasked with bringing Miss Yini back unharmed?
“While our orders were to ensure Miss Yini’s return unscathed, my own safety is no longer assured. Do you honestly expect me to prioritize her well-being now?”
“I understand your concern for Miss Yini’s life. Let’s make a deal. Release me, and she’s yours!”
“Your proposition is agreeable.”
Loong Chen’s response came with a smile. As the buzz-cut Grandmaster breathed a sigh of relief, Loong Chen suddenly gestured behind him.
“However, I can’t guarantee his concurrence.”
The buzz-cut Grandmaster instinctively turned, his expression shifting abruptly.
At some unseen moment, the young man had reappeared behind him.
The sudden realization dawned upon the buzz-cut Grandmaster, startled by the unexpected turn of events.
No, that was incorrect. They were two individuals who bore an uncanny resemblance!
The short-haired Grandmaster scarcely had time to ponder these peculiarities before darkness enveloped his vision entirely.
Loong Chen’s doppelgänger casually wiped away the blood and cerebral matter from his fist, grinning at Loong Chen before vanishing.
Loong Chen strode toward the young woman known as Miss Yini.
“Stay back!”
Miss Yini, observing Loong Chen’s approach, swiftly retrieved a gleaming sword from her pocket.
Though resembling a toy, after witnessing the potency of the toy gun, Loong Chen refrained from assuming the sword’s insignificance.
“Is this how you treat your rescuer?”
Halting about a meter from Miss Yini, Loong Chen queried.
Miss Yini’s eyes briefly flickered with remorse at Loong Chen’s reproach, though it swiftly vanished, maintaining her vigilance.
“While I appreciate your aid, I cannot assure that others will share the same sentiments toward me as you do.”
Miss Yini spoke warily, indicating she had been deceived previously and harbored lingering distrust.
With a chuckle, Loong Chen suddenly dashed, materializing beside Miss Yini.
Miss Yini’s countenance shifted abruptly, instinctively thrusting the illuminated sword toward Loong Chen.
Yet, a startling spectacle unfolded.
Loong Chen made no attempt to evade the light sword; instead, he reached out to grasp it firmly.
“Is he intending to end his life?”
That was the initial thought that crossed Miss Yini’s mind.
She was acutely aware of the potency of the light sword, capable of slicing through meteorites and even the bodies of Grandmasters.
However, what followed was an utterly unbelievable sight.
The young man seized the blade of the light sword, his hand remaining unscathed.
“Even if you intend to harm me like the others, I won’t yield, even unto death!”
Miss Yini adopted a demeanor unafraid of mortality, eliciting laughter from Loong Chen.
In this moment, she appeared somewhat endearing.
“I bear no relation to those individuals. I merely wish to convey that if I were truly malevolent, I wouldn’t resort to subterfuge.”
Loong Chen endeavored to wear a gentle smile as he spoke.
Miss Yini was momentarily taken aback. Upon reflection, his words seemed plausible.
This individual possessed formidable strength; should he wish her harm, resistance would prove futile.
Instantly, a tinge of remorse painted her expression. The light sword in her grip vanished abruptly as she returned it to its sheath.
Only then did Loong Chen realize that the light sword wasn’t a tangible object, yet the sensation upon touching it seemed no different from that of a physical blade.
This was quite magical.
“I’m sorry, I’m too sensitive.”
Miss Yini said apologetically.
“My name is Chen Yini. What about you?”
“Loong Chen.”
Loong Chen said his name.
Chen Yini softly repeated Loong Chen’s name a few times before inquiring,
“What brings you here? Why the desire to rescue me? I don’t doubt your intentions; I’m simply curious about these matters,” Chen Yini expressed. Wanting to assure Loong Chen she wasn’t interrogating him, she appended an explanation.
Chen Yini’s words were measured, avoiding any hint of interrogation.
Loong Chen maintained a relaxed demeanor.
“The reason for my presence isn’t entirely clear. As for why I intervened to save you, I jest that it was love at first sight and a desire to play the hero. Do you take me seriously?” Loong Chen quipped. To his surprise, Chen Yini lowered her gaze, her cheeks tinged with a blush.
Loong Chen was taken aback. Could she have succumbed to his charm so easily?
Was he truly that captivating now?
Little did he realize that women often admire men of strength, harboring fantasies of being rescued by a hero and repaying him through marriage.
However, the hero must also possess attractiveness. If the hero were unattractive, the outcome would differ; the woman might only vow repayment in the next life.
Fortunately, Loong Chen was handsome, youthful, and robust.
Hence, when he casually uttered ambiguous words, her interest was piqued.
Consequently, her fascination was piqued by him.
