Chapter 121
Chapter 121
C121 – Healing
Loong Chen furrowed his brow, sending Romanov flying.
It was only then that he realized his loss of composure and quickly forced a sheepish smile.
“Young friend, I seem to have lost control there for a moment. Forgive me. Can you share the technique you used just now?”
Romanov, though somewhat unwilling, still inquired.
His earlier disdainful and mocking gaze had undergone a complete transformation.
The way he now regarded Loong Chen was marked by curiosity and respect.
His passion for medicine was almost fanatical. To witness the rapid recovery of a person on the brink of death without surgery was unprecedented in the field of medicine.
Moreover, Loong Chen had merely gestured without conducting a surgical procedure.
Loong Chen contemplated for a moment, realizing that if he didn’t clarify matters, this persistent old man would likely continue to pester him.
However, revealing the truth was out of the question. After some thought, he responded.
“The technique I employed is an ancient medical art passed down for millennia in the Eastern Continent. It cannot be shared with outsiders, so I’m afraid I can’t divulge the details.”
Loong Chen spoke in a rather nonsensical manner, fully aware that this man wouldn’t have the opportunity to travel to the Eastern Continent, allowing him to embellish as he pleased.
Upon hearing Loong Chen’s explanation, Romanov gazed eastward with a wistful expression.
“Throughout history, the Eastern Continent has been shrouded in mystery. It appears that the rumors hold true. Judging from your medical skills, you might even possess the ability to resurrect the dead.”
Romanov spoke with a quivering voice, and Loong Chen responded with an exuberant smile.
The future remained uncertain, but given his current mastery of the Law of Life, reviving the deceased was an impossibility.
Just as Romanov was about to inquire further about the ancient medical practices of the Eastern Continent, and Loong Chen contemplated how to continue deceiving him, a cough emerged from the hospital bed.
All eyes immediately turned toward the bed, where the City Lord had awakened.
“Father!”
Amy noticed that the City Lord had regained consciousness, filling her with immediate joy. She eagerly clasped her father’s hand.
Her excitement was so overwhelming that tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Amy, I’m so relieved that you’re alright.”
Witnessing Amy’s safety, the City Lord’s face reflected his relief.
The reason behind his sudden bout of coughing up blood and collapsing was his deep concern for Amy.
“Father, it’s all my fault for being so headstrong. That’s why you’ve ended up like this.”
Amy’s face was consumed by self-blame, but the City Lord gently patted her head.
“I understand that you were also searching for that elusive miracle cure. But there’s no such miraculous remedy. It’s just a rumor. I’m well aware of my own health.”
As he spoke, the City Lord suddenly exclaimed in astonishment.
He swiftly closed his eyes to sense his body, then widened his eyes, staring at Boss with disbelief.
“My injuries have actually healed!”
“How is this possible? With the extent of my injuries, I should have perished!”
The City Lord shook his head in disbelief and then noticed Romanov, who stood by the bedside, causing his heart to skip a beat.
“Dr. Romanov, I extend my gratitude for saving my life.”
The City Lord swiftly sat up and expressed his thanks to Romanov with a bow.
Romanov was left bewildered, and he quickly waved his hand while saying,
“City Lord, you’re mistaken. It wasn’t me who saved you, but this young friend here.”
Romanov gestured towards Loong Chen. The City Lord glanced in the direction pointed out by Romanov, his face filled with doubt.
It was a youth who didn’t appear to be even eighteen years old. How could such a young individual have saved him?
“Father, it truly was Big Brother who saved you. I was able to return safely this time because of Big Brother.”
Amy noticed that her father was somewhat skeptical and quickly added.
The City Lord had great trust in his daughter, but this revelation left him even more astonished. Could a child so young truly rescue him?
He was acutely aware of the gravity of his injuries.
“I’m profoundly grateful for saving my life. I, Aaron, will forever be indebted.”
Despite his astonishment, Aaron had faith in what Romanov and his daughter had conveyed.
Consequently, Aaron promptly extended his gratitude to Loong Chen.
“No need to worry. Amy and I have a strong connection. I’ll assist you on your journey.”
Loong Chen waved dismissively, his expression unperturbed.
Aaron wished to inquire but was interrupted when he noticed Abby standing frozen in place. Her countenance appeared fierce, as if she wanted to say something but couldn’t.
“Abby, what’s the matter with you?”
Aaron inquired with curiosity. It was only now that Loong Chen recalled that Amy was still under his control through Psychokinesis Superpower.
He hastily gestured, instantly releasing his control over Abby’s body.
Amy sensed she had regained control of her body and promptly became enraged. She clenched her fists tightly and launched a furious punch toward Loong Chen.
Everyone was taken aback by this sudden turn of events, yet Loong Chen’s expression remained unchanged.
Just as she was about to strike, a loud shout rang out unexpectedly.
“Abby, stop!”
Accompanied by a resounding shout, a formidable surge of Qi emanated.
It seemed as though Abby had been struck by an unseen force, causing him to stagger back with a subdued grunt.
“Father!”
Abby cast a flushed glance at Aaron, whose countenance remained ice-cold.
“This young individual is my benefactor. Do you intend to harm my benefactor?”
“Leave this place immediately. You shall be confined for ten days!” Aaron bellowed in fury. Abby seethed with anger, but he dared not defy his father’s command.
He could only shoot a venomous glare at Loong Chen before departing.
“I sincerely apologize. It was my failure to properly discipline Amy,” Aaron expressed with a regretful demeanor, yet Loong Chen simply waved his hand.
“City Lord Aaron, now that you have recovered, I have a request to make of you.”
Loong Chen mentioned. He had chosen to rescue Aaron not only because of Amy but also for his own ulterior motives.
“City Lord Aaron, now that you have regained your strength, I have a favor to ask,” Loong Chen requested. His decision to assist Aaron wasn’t solely for Amy’s sake but also to serve his own objectives.
Loong Chen conveyed. His choice to save Aaron was motivated not just by his desire to protect Amy but also by his own hidden agenda.
“If I am to learn the route to the eastern continent, I will require the support of influential factions like yours,” Loong Chen explained, outlining his purpose.
In his capacity as the City Lord, Aaron must be informed about this matter.
“Just speak your mind. I’ll do my utmost if it’s within my power,” Aaron assured.
Aaron confidently patted his chest as he spoke.
Loong Chen had once saved Aaron’s life, and Aaron, in return, was willing to assist Loong Chen, provided it didn’t endanger his family.
Loong Chen didn’t hesitate to disclose his intention.
“I hail from the eastern continent and have specific reasons for my presence here. Now, I need your assistance to return,” Loong Chen explained.
Upon hearing that Loong Chen intended to leave, Amy, her fragile frame, quivered involuntarily.
Even though she had only spent less than a day in Loong Chen’s company, she couldn’t bear the thought of his departure.
Could it be that she had fallen for him at first sight? She couldn’t say for certain.
Upon hearing this, Aaron stroked his chin’s beard, rose from his seat, and addressed the physicians.
“Dr. Romanov, I appreciate your dedication. Please go home and rest. I’ll arrange for a gift to be delivered to you in a few days.”
When Romanov and the others heard Aaron’s words, they grasped the unspoken message. Although they were devoted to medicine, they weren’t naive.
Clearly, Aaron possessed information he didn’t want them to be privy to. It was effectively an eviction notice.
