Chapter 1050: My Last Breath

?

It had been hard on Beatrix for a while now to contemplate whether what she was doing was right or wrong—to go against her clan. These thoughts had been building in her mind for some time.

In the end, she had come to a decision: to go against her own clan. With this resolve, a few words from Impress or even Ricar weren't going to change her mind, which was why she acted out with the sword pointed in front of her.

She could tell from Impress's eyes, and maybe it was from the vision they had seen, how far she was willing to act. There was no convincing the woman in front of her; it would have to be a fight to the death.

Beatrix lifted her foot, kicking the sword upward, and immediately the veins were growing on Impress's head. She charged forward, her sword glowing with Qi, and went to strike at Beatrix.

Moving to the side, with her eyes focused on the weapon, Beatrix was avoiding all the slashes, but she was on the back foot as she shifted her position several times.

"What are you doing, Impress? If you strike her with that much Qi, you'll kill her. Killing another Elder is grounds for immediate expulsion from the clan!" Ricar shouted. "We must do things appropriately and have a vote to discuss the matters involving Beatrix!"

"Ha, are you a fool?" Impress said as her sword scraped against Beatrix's, who was now using it to block attacks. The two swords were scraping across each other, trying to lead one another.

The swords were flung to the sides, and sharp cuts were being made on the floor, in the air, and in several other areas.

"This woman right here-she is a traitor to the clan! The other Elders, as well as the Light Faction, will certainly understand my actions today. If anything, it's you that should be worrying!"

A swift strike from Impress hit Beatrix hard as she used her sword to block an attack to her chest. It was a heavy blow infused with Qi, and Beatrix's internals still hadn't fully recovered. She felt it surging through her body until a small trickle of blood escaped her mouth.

'I used up so much Qi fighting against Mosak, trying to block his attacks, and I was hurt badly in the fight as well. I can't take too many hits!'

However, Impress didn't let up. If anything, it was almost as if she was swayed by the sight of blood coming from Beatrix's mouth. She moved her sword and continued to strike heavy blows each time.

"You damned bitch! I knew we should never have made you an Elder. It's quite clear that all that fame, the fact that you're talented and pretty-it's all gone to your head! I'm sure it's the same for you. How many people guided you?"

"How many people supported you, all wondering if they would be able to get a part of that thing between your legs?"

A heavy blow from above sent Beatrix stumbling to the floor and rolling on the ground. She had dropped her sword, but with her hands, she still held onto the Golden Globe.

She used both hands, gripping it tightly and hugging it to her stomach.

"A useless effort. Do you really think someone of my caliber wouldn't be able to see through such a thing?" Impress said as she walked forward.

Before she could reach her, though, Ricar stood between the two.

"This is enough. I will not stand here and watch what has occurred. As the longest-standing Elder, you have to listen to me. She will be punished for this, I assure you, but not like this- and not now," Ricar said.

Impress stared into Ricar's eyes for a moment before letting out a big sigh and placing her sword by her side. She lifted her hands and placed them on her forehead.

"You... I think you're right," Impress stated. "After my memories were shared like that, I think I've had more on my mind than usual. But there's one thing."

Impress shifted forward and stabbed her sword directly into Ricar's chest. The blade pierced his skin easily and stuck out the other side.

"With you gone, that means I'm currently the eldest Elder-and with that, my decision is final."

The sword had struck Ricar's heart with a devastating amount of Qi. Beatrix, who was on the floor, lifted her head and saw the scene unfolding in front of her, everything happening because of the decision she had made.

Slowly, Ricar lifted his hands and grabbed the blade of the weapon.

"After seeing your memories, it seems I should have expected this from you. But I still believed in some good," Ricar stated. "You will never be like her behind me. She is what we all strive to be in the Light Faction!"

Ricar, with his hand, started to gather his Qi. He shaped his hand into a claw-like form, and his fingertips began to glow. Thrusting it outward, his fingers dug into Impress and hit her, sending her body flying and tumbling across the ground. At the same time, the sword that had impaled Ricar fell out as well.

Beatrix quickly got up off the floor, just as Ricar fell to his knees, hitting the ground.

"Ricar... Ricar!" Beatrix shouted and screamed. "No! Why did you do that? Why were you helping someone like me when you didn't even agree with what I was doing? Why did you give up your life?"

Ricar reached under his shirt and pulled out a flat object. It was almost the same size as a book. This was the item he had taken from the Martial Arts Tournament. It had originally been spherical in shape, but the user could change its form at will, and he had turned it into what looked like a thick book.

"Ricar... Ricar!" Beatrix cried, sobbing in tears.

"Stick to your own sense of justice. You've come this far now... so... keep... going... for the sake of the Light Faction... and... for the sake of Pagna..." Ricar said with his last breath.
