Chapter 157: The Central Continent!
Chapter 157: The Central Continent!
The first thing Draco saw when he got out of the portal was a large room with dark walls and golden chandeliers lighting the atmosphere.
To his right and left, two deermen wearing armor and putting their hands on the swords situated on their waists, turned to look at him.
"Welcome, Sir!" They saluted, bowing with their hands on their chests.
"Good day." Draco nodded back, unleashing his senses outside of the room.
A second later, he vanished from the guards' vision.
---------
As the commander said, the tower was right next to the monarchy Draco teleported to.
The tower was situated right in the middle of the continent, similar to all other continents, and it was under the complete control of the Celestial Academy.
However, being under the jurisdiction of the Celestial Academy or not did not matter. Any Origin Emperor could enter without problems.
All Draco did was teleport right in front of the tower, and nobody spoke a single word. One thing happened, though, and it was the welcoming of Draco by a few powerhouses stationed there.
4 of them, in fact. One was a human, an elf, and two beastmen, a horseman, and a tigerwoman.
"Welcome, esteemed Emperor." They spoke in unison.
"Good day." Draco nodded.
"Are you here for your trials?" The human asked, feeling more familiar with Draco's human-like appearance.
"Yes." Draco replied, calmly.
"Oh? That's good. You look quite young; would you like me to give you an idea about the trials?" The tigerwoman asked, liking the oppressive air around Draco that he was holding back. The tigress in her likes it.
"If you don't mind." Draco replied, not refusing.
"Very well." And so, the tigerwoman walked to Draco's side, facing the sky piercing tower.
The 9 trials, according to her words, weren't as easy as one imagined. It wasn't something like heavenly thunder falling down on the emperor, or some kind of pilgrimage, No.
The 9 trials tested one's origin law first and foremost, and it was the most important, forging one's way forward, after all, one's origin law was what characterized a celestial, becoming an authority when they ascend.
And each Origin Law could go through 9 trials individually; however, only one would be turned into a Celestial Authority.
Aside from the Origin Law, the trials also tested the Emperor himself by putting him in situations to see how he would manage; after all, once he ascended, he would become a Celestial with power over an Authority of that world.
The trial varied from Emperor to Emperor, and it would always be passed individually, unlike the first 90 floors, which can also be skipped.
The Origin Law's offense, defense, and support. Support includes healing, analytical power, sealing powers, actual support, like buffs, debuffs, poisoning, etc... and effectiveness against other Origin Laws.
The last two trials are all about maximizing the potential of both the law and its users.
"This is the most important thing you have to know." and the tigerwoman concluded.
"Thank you." Draco expressed his gratitude
"If you don't mind me asking, how long has it been since you came to the central continent?" the tigerwoman asked.
"A few minutes." Draco replied, taking the Emperors by surprise. They looked at each other dumbfounded until the elf of the group stepped up.
"Look, man, not to be annoying or anything, but it'd be better to take a little rest; once you enter the trials, you won't be able to leave until you either clear them all or give up, and most suffer from the latter; you'd rather aim to maximize your chances, so rest for a few years; time is short for someone as young as you." he said, genuinely advising Draco.
"How kind of you, but don't worry, I have my ways." Draco replied, clearly telling the group to not bother stopping him.
In fact, Draco really took their words to heart, but he could always rest using his other clones, and most of them were in fact doing just that.
"You do you, man." And the elf stepped back.
"Good luck." They bowed and disappeared.
Draco saw this and smiled slightly, which was rare for him in this kind of setting but he was starting to find more comfort in not being too overbearing. It was all about the balance.
The area around the tower was clear and Draco didn't have to do anything for a system screen to appear before him, giving him two options.
[Would you like to enter the tower? Y/N] The first yes-or-no choice of the system only appeared after Draco was on his way to Ascension and found this funny.
"Now, now. Would the trial be easy... or would it take its time." Draco smiled as he chose 'yes'.
There were many things that could be done before entering the tower, but from Draco's point of view, all of this would become useless once he became a celestial. Thus, why bother?
Leona and Alexander were going to follow him closely alongside the truly worthy of the gomen.
Back home, Draco was still on his research arc, cooking up things that would forever be useful.
And in the background, there were many plans set up that even Draco didn't know of.
The path to becoming a celestial being is nothing but a beginning, a way to filter the worthy from the unworthy and build the foundation that one would follow for his eternity.
When one had to go through the F to EX rank struggle and be talented enough to understand a law to 100%, then become a transcendent and go through all the phases of expanding to form an origin law, this was all in the hope of becoming a celestial.
The relationships along the way, the study, research, struggle, and kills... were all but a method to achieve that.
And to give a realistic example of what all of this was considered, then it would be like the 9 months one went through to be born.
Indeed, it was all to become a celestial.
Indeed, it was all but a prologue.
