Chapter 820 T.D.O.N.B: Father And Son

While Leonel had a look at my notes, I went to the city center and grabbed the materials, and quickly returned. He was still looking at my sketches, so I uses some magic to start the furnace and prepare the material for creating the skeleton.

This made him look away from the notebook, to check on what I was doing.

He watched carefully as I was creating the alloy, which would take some time because of the 'Runification'. After all the runic aluminum was much better than the regular one.

- I'm preparing the materials, which might take me a few hours, so why don't you grab a bar of iron, heat it up, and try to make an element of the armor? You will learn something before working on the real thing, and I will be able to see how you do - I told him.

- Ok - he agreed.

Then he took the piece and added it to the furnace where a big chunk of a few different metals, pressed together, was already held slightly in the air by my 'Telekinesis' to liquefy it while I added some runic magic to the mix before creating the parts.

I pushed it slightly deeper, so he got the necessary place to heat up his bar of iron.

Then I spaced out for a few hours, working on Runifying the material. I caught the sound of metal striking metal in the meantime, after Leonel took out the red hot piece, and began hammering it on the anvil, but I needed my eyes focused on the work, so I couldn't actually observe him.

When I finished, I had a look. He tried to make the small scales that were supposed to be assembled in composite outer armor, but he had problems with keeping the proper shape. I observed him over his shoulder while casting the liquified alloy into the parts which would become the skeleton of the next golem.

I did it straight in the air, using 'Telekinesis' so I didn't really have to look that much at what I was doing because it was more about keeping the proper shape of the metal till it hardens, then just holding it there till it cools down. This allowed me to mostly keep an eye on my son's work.

Half an hour later all the elements didn't need my attention at all, so I got closer to Leonel.

- I see you are struggling - I pointed out.

- It's hard to shape it with a  hammer - he confessed stopping the work to look at me.

- Let me show you - I said then, then extended my hand to take the hammer from him.

He gave it to me, then I reheated the bar, but instead of using tools to hold it, I just did it with my powers, then began hammering the iron.

- Watch closely how I'm manipulating the piece, and how I strike with the hammer - I told him as I began hammering the piece. - See? Don't use so much force, just strike at the correct places.

I was turning the piece of iron, striking it precisely, to force it into the desired shape, causing orange sparks to fly everywhere. He watched carefully. Maybe even a little bit too carefully, as he got very close to the anvil. Normally I would say too close, but Leonel wasn't your regular kid.

- Can I try now? - he asked. - I think I got it.

- Sure - I left the iron from the grasp of my skill and gave him the hammer.

He took it, grabbed the pliers, and started working again. It looked better, but he still needed some practice. Instead of pointing that out, I just observed, allowing him to come to his own conclusions.

From time to time I looked behind, to move the parts in a very slow process of assembling the skeleton, as my main focus of attention was the hard-working boy.

He finished several minutes later, then quenched the scale into the water, and showed the still hissing piece, with steam coming off it.

- Looks good. Could be better, but you will get there with some more practice - I told him.

He looked at me and smiled.

- Mom says you should go back home - we suddenly heard Tihana, who was standing on the side and looking at us.

I had no idea for how long, but it looked like it could be some substantial amount of time. At this moment I actually realized that the starlight, from the local star, was quite strong. Definitely stronger than it was supposed to be during the evening.

- Did we stay here all night? - I asked her.

- Yes. I cam yesterday, looking for Leone, but you two were working, so I told mom he was with you, dad. But now he should really go back. Eat something, and maybe don't go hunting today. Instead, rest some - she said.

- I'm fine! - Leonel argued.

- You are still growing, you little shit, so don't even try to argue. You need to eat and sleep properly. Just because you have some powers doesn't mean you can do whatever - she growled at him.

- But! - he tried to reason with her.

- The only but might be your's being kicked by me. We are going home - she interrupted him.

He sighed heavily, clearly displeased.

- Go home - I told him while putting my hand on his shoulder. - Get some rest, and then we will work some more.

He nodded, although my words didn't seem to convince him. The only reason why he was actually going was that Tihana would drag him anyway. At least that's how it looked to me.

I smiled though, because the two of them seemed close, like a real brother and sister.

The moments like that were precious for me, but also made me sad because I knew that I was missing out on all of that being so busy with other stuff.

That's why I immediately returned back to work, to start preparing everything to make the core, because that was the next step in making Fin a younger brother, who would make my life easier.
