509. Reconstruction from All Sides!
Rebuilding the wasteland is absolutely not something that can be accomplished with sheer power alone. As Alex had previously planned, to ensure that civilization continues and regains its brilliance, it requires the collective effort of everyone.
Many hands make light work—no matter how great one's power is, it cannot drive overall development by itself.
Clark is strong, isn't he? No one on Earth can rival him now, but the result? Even Superman, as powerful as he is, still had to start from the most basic of tasks.
Except for the initial period, when Clark needed to use his strength to free people from criminal organizations, during the wasteland's reconstruction, Clark couldn't make much of a significant contribution. He could only be sent to space to build the Watchtower.
Originally, the construction of the Watchtower didn't need to be rushed. After all, the internal affairs on Earth hadn't been finished, and no substantial city-wide renovations had been completed. Focusing on space at this point seemed like an act of neglecting what truly matters.
This caused a dispute in the Alliance's Senate. Both Hawkeye Barton and Luthor disagreed with the idea of constructing a space facility so soon. They simply didn't have the resources or manpower to carry out such a large-scale project.
The rocket launch bases left behind by Hydra and Latveria were nowhere near enough to realize their plans. Furthermore, they intended to create a combined Watchtower that merged both the Justice League and S.W.O.R.D.
However, when Star-Lord presented the Space Federation's letters to everyone, Luthor, Barton, and the rest of them were left dumbfounded.
It turned out that news of the Universal Church of Truth's defeat on Earth had already spread throughout the entire universe. The story of the Planet Devourer being exiled to another universe by an unknown "weapon" also circulated widely.
With the fall of top-tier civilizations like the Kree Empire, Skrull Empire, Shi'ar Empire, and the Nova Corps of Xandar, Earth had suddenly become one of the most powerful civilizations in the universe.
Under the leadership of Star-Lord and his newly formed Guardians of the Galaxy, many smaller planetary civilizations began to approach Earth, eager to establish diplomatic relations and progress together.
Those aliens had no idea what the situation on Earth was like—they only knew that Earth had wiped out the entire Universal Church of Truth and the mighty Planet Devourer.
But Luthor and Barton, who had personally participated in that war, were well aware of the real situation.
Every council member present understood that if it weren't for Alex and Constantine stepping in at a critical moment, and the remaining heroes of both worlds working together, they wouldn't have been able to accomplish such an epic feat.
However, war and establishing diplomatic relations with civilizations are two different concepts. At this point, Earth was no different from a primitive society. Aside from a few bustling cities, most regions were still in a barbaric state.
In such an environment, if aliens traveled thousands of light years only to see Earth in its current state, it would be a huge embarrassment for everyone.
Although Barton and others didn't care about this, Luthor did. This was his first time becoming the leader of an entire planet, and he absolutely would not allow such a black mark to appear on his record.
So, Luthor pushed through the opposition. After persuading Bruce Wayne, the two of them worked together to begin the construction of the space Watchtower, with Bruce Wayne taking the lead.
After all, the majority of futuristic technology had already been obtained from the Zombie Heroes Universe. With some modifications, they were capable of constructing a basic framework in space.
Thus, with the combined efforts of Iron Man, Mr. Fantastic, the Bat-family, and the Justice League led by Superman, the construction of the Watchtower began in full swing.
Although it was called the Watchtower, in reality, it was a patchwork of various alien warships, floating together in space in a strange form with the help of artificial intelligence.
The very top of the "Watchtower" was made up of the New Star Platform from Xandar. Not only did it house the mainframe of the AI Veronica, but it also contained the newly repaired Nova Dome.
When the Watchtower came under malicious attack, Veronica could activate the Nova Dome, transforming it into a defensive barrier capable of enveloping the entire structure to fend off external threats.
At times, this device was also used to block asteroid impacts.
Below the New Star Platform was the S.H.I.E.L.D. space carrier, a combination of two motherships. Clark and Kara had worked together for two days, using heat vision to merge them.
The space carrier was equipped with various forms of alien technology, with the primary weapons being laser cannons and long-range weapons. These were used as effective countermeasures for any external attacks.
However, from the outside, one could still see that the weapon systems on the carrier were a chaotic mess—none of them were properly arranged, and the colors were all mismatched.
This was because most of the weapons came from the wreckage of the Universal Church of Truth's fleet, and the rest came from the armed defense systems of various planets.
In order to save time, Bruce Wayne didn't bother with aesthetics and used a rather crude method to simply assemble all the weapons together.
Regardless of whether it looks good or not, as long as it works, that's all that matters. Practicality comes first.
Moving down, the main body of the Watchtower is where the staff lives and also where alien visitors are received.
The main structure comes from Titan, and it's also the base of Thanos' flagship, the Sanctuary II. It not only carries a fleet of dagger-shaped ships but also the Dark Elf's Blade Spaceships.
The Sanctuary II is incredibly massive, and it fits perfectly as the main body of the Watchtower. Bruce Wayne even had Clark bring over many plants and animals from Earth to keep here.
With the supreme evolution life support devices, the plants and animals have all been able to survive, and the entire Watchtower has achieved self-sufficiency in just a few months.
Of course, the only downside is that the appearance of this gigantic building is quite ugly.
The top is golden, with the middle mainly in metallic colors, adorned with colorful strategic equipment. Below, there's an enormous black warship, with absolutely no sense of cohesion.
But this is just from the perspective of human aesthetics. When the clueless aliens arrive, they mistakenly think that this is Earth's native architecture, and they all give it a thumbs up, calling it "authentic"!
Poor Bruce Wayne—before his journey here, he hated attending social events and parties, but as the heir to the Wayne family, he had no choice but to participate.
Now, on this alternate Earth, before he could even catch his breath, he was thrown back into socializing and parties, except this time, his guests were aliens instead of Earthlings.
Originally, the group had hoped that Martian Manhunter or Clark would take on this responsibility, but neither of them were "true" Earthlings, and they had their own work to do. So, in the end, they had no choice but to push Bruce Wayne forward.
As Luthor put it: "If I can't rest, neither can you. You're the head of the Watchtower, after all."
Bruce Wayne didn't refuse, but he quickly intensified the training of Damian, his heir, regularly taking him to interact with ambassadors from different planets.
This, of course, annoyed Damian, and he often sneaked out of the Watchtower to slack off at the Secret House or on Earth.
Speaking of the Bat-family, aside from Batman and Damian, the others were just as busy.
Barbara settled in the Blood Nest and worked on rebuilding Atlantis, while Kate joined the Guardians of the Galaxy, traveling through space with Star-Lord to establish diplomatic relations with different civilizations.
Batwing took charge of the Master of the World's Fortress, overseeing the reconstruction of the snow plains and uniting the local tribes there, while Dick replaced Batman in the Justice League, becoming one of the Earth's Seven Heroes.
The current Seven Heroes of the League are Superboy, Nightwing, Lady Thor(Black Canary), Quicksilver, Venom, Shazam, and Vision's daughter, Vivian.
It's worth noting that, due to the news about Jason receiving the Super Soldier serum, the older generation in the wasteland now views him as a new spiritual leader.
Even though Jason repeatedly stated that his code name was Red Hood, the public refused to acknowledge it.
Helpless, Luthor had to use the excuse of "it's cold, let me add a coat for you," and changed Captain America's suit into a bright red one, forcing Jason to wear it. He also found Captain America's shield from the Secret House and gave it to him.
In the end, with a bit of pushing and pulling, Jason became the new "Captain of the Federation."
He led a new version of the Avengers, consisting of the second-generation Nova (a lucky young man who gained the Nova helmet's approval), third-generation Hawkeye (Kate Bishop's bodyguard leader), Black Widow (Ms. Shiva), Young Ant-Man (a child who got the Ant-Man helmet), Lady Warrior (Luke Cage's daughter), and Cyborg.
Regarding the few remaining mutants scattered around the world, Emma Frost and Wolverine, Logan, stepped forward to rebuild Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, helping to guide and nurture these mutants for better growth.
After the loss of Hydra's control over genetically modified food, and after more than forty years, the first mutant baby was born, marking the return of the mutants, a nearly extinct species, to Earth.
In the chaotic wasteland, possessing abilities beyond normal humans is extremely dangerous—not just to oneself but to others as well. If these mutants cannot properly harness their abilities, they will inevitably become supervillains.
It's worth mentioning that the first mutant born had the ability of telepathy.
Logan named her Charles Jean Xavier and took custody of her from her parents, raising her together with Emma.
