Chapter 249 - Using Plunder Again
Chapter 249 - Using Plunder Again
The tree was over 24 meters tall and the nearest Zombats hanging upside down the branch was at most 9 meters. With his current strength, he assumed he should be able to leap at most 4 meters. Given he has a foothold to step to, he should be able to reach the nearest Zombats in two leaps instantly, and kill one of them before they could escape.
.
After planning everything, Ban no longer wasted any more time and directly leaped from the ground.
His figure shot like a bullet and instantly arrived at the branch he marked earlier as a foothold. The moment his foot stepped on that branch, the whole tree shook, startling all of the Zombats hanging upside down under the tree awake, including those at the very top.
Each and every one of them opened their blood-red eyes. Before even a second could pass, all of them immediately perked their ears. Their ears vibrated at extreme speed as they used their one and only Skill, Echo Hearing.
Their supposed teamwork was no longer present. It was instead replaced by worry and fear as they use the Echo Hearing simultaneously, not caring about their supposed teamwork being broken.
The Zombats are cowardly creatures. They would always think of escape and prioritize their safety when something unprecedented happens around them.
Such was the case at the moment.
Even without using their skill, they knew that the sound was so close to them, not to mention the shaking of the tree. They went into panic and immediately used their Echo Hearing Skill, to determine for themselves if the area around them was still safe. There's no need for the warning of others, they should hear for themselves what was happening and decide for their own.
If it's dangerous, then escape before alerting the others. This way, those left behind could become the bait.
If it's safe, then they should still escape and wait till things calm down before coming back.
All of them used Echo Hearing simultaneously. Their ears vibrated non stop as they gathered and absorbed the vibrations around the air to determine the situation around them.
When they 'saw' Ban readying himself to leap again, each of their instincts immediately kicked in.
Forget about the others and escape.
In an instant, the tree shook again for the second time, but it was not due to Ban this time, but instead came from the synchronous flapping of the Zombats wings.
Ban saw their movements and although he was worried, he did not think about it that much. He only needs one Zombat, not all of them anyway.
He did not stop and immediately gathered his strength to leap one more time using the branch as a platform.
He locked on to a Zombat that was about to fly away.
Swoosh!
His figure leapt up, and in an instant. He arrived near the 9 meter mark.
At this point, the Zombats were all already flying away in panic.
However, Ban did not lose sight of his target.
The Poisonous Butterfly Dagger on his hand moved even faster than him, locking into the Zombat that he marked.
As if butter cut by a hot knife, the dagger hit the body of the Zombat and went right through it as if it was the softest thing in the whole world.
The Zombat was skewered, its red eyes bulging for a second before it died the next instant.
The System then reported the kill confirmation, allowing a relieved smile to surface on his face after seeing it.
His body then slowly descended down, before it gracefully landed on one of the tree's branches.
He looked around him and to his surprise, the surroundings actually dimmed due to the sheer number of Zombats that flew away in panic.
They were crowded together before so he assumed their number was at most between 30 to 40. But looking at it now, it seems that there were actually over 100 Zombats sleeping underneath the tree instead of just 30 to 40.
Fortunately, Zombats are cowardly in nature, or else, even with Ban being at the E-Elite Rank already, if all of them decided to duke it out with him and attack him at the same time, he would surely be in trouble, even if they don't have any Skills to attack him.
After a couple of minutes, the escaping Zombats were finally no longer in sight.
Their panic escape also caused trouble for the other Beast around as they also escaped in panic, even without knowing why they were escaping in the first place.
The Zombats are escaping, why aren't we?
Ban shook his head seeing the fleeing Normal Grade Beasts and even normal animals fleeing in panic. He didn't plan on pursuing them so he sat down on the same branch he landed earlier and looked at the skewered Zombat on his hand.
The Zombats aren't that big. They are only slightly bigger than normal bats, with their body the size of a fist, and their wingspan at most half a meter.
The rancid smell its wounds gave off could no longer be tolerated by Ban so he immediately used the Plunder Ability towards it.
He did not bother pulling it out from the dagger and just placed the tip of his finger on its body. He then activated the Plunder Ability the next instant, causing the Zombats body to tremble.
In an instant, the body of the Zombats pulsed, it throbbed as if it was still breathing. Nevertheless, Ban was not worried as he already got the kill confirmation notification earlier about its death. He knew that the throbbing part was only an effect of using the Plunder Ability of the Skill, Greed.
He waited and just a second later, the body of the Zombat shrunk almost in half.
He then felt a mysterious energy entering his hand before this mysterious energy traveled towards his brain.
This mysterious energy was actually just the condensed knowledge of the Zombats towards their Echo Hearing Skill. The Plunder Ability condensed it and transferred it to his brain directly allowing him to learn it, if he wished so, unlike the Skill Crystal where he still needs to study it before he could learn the Skill inside it.
The moment he felt that the mysterious energy reached his brain, a bluish System screen appeared in front of his eyes.
