Chapter 158 - Contracting The Monster Egg And The New Skill
Ban immediately understood everything the moment the System injected it inside his brain. He could have done it the first time but he just wanted to test whether he could understand and memorize them without the System's help.
He knew that he was not a smart or a genius one, he already realized it dozens of times already and he already accepted that fact. He just didn't want to overly rely on the System, he was afraid that his brain might no longer work if he only relied on the System injecting all the knowledge to his brain directly.
And of course, he knew his limit. He was not a stubborn one. If he knew that that's all he can do, then he would immediately ask the System to inject the knowledge, there was no harm to that.
According to the System, it was there to help him become the Almighty Summoner, of course he might not have trusted it at first, but now, one could say that his trust towards the System had grown quite a lot compared to the first time it appeared.
Anyways, after the System injected the knowledge, Ban was able to understand all of it at one go. He only needs to experience some slight discomfort and the information would then be directly integrated into his brain.
Ban no longer wasted any time as he finally started the process to contract the Monster, or more precisely, the Egg.
He took his sword and made a slit on his forefinger. Biting till it bleeds hurts very much and now that he already has a sword, he only needs to slide it across his finger and it would already produce blood.
Ban immediately activated the Blood Contractor skill and his finger immediately moved as if they were alive. He drew the mysterious symbols on the Egg's surface with blood as his ink.
After a full minute, Ban finally finished drawing the mysterious pattern.
Contract!
He exclaimed and not long after, the mysterious symbol he drew glowed and not a moment had even passed when the System screen flashes in front of him.
[Congratulations, you have successfully contracted the Giant Red Dragonfly's Egg.
Please hatched it as soon as possible and properly nurture it.
]
The System did not provide long explanations this time. There was no longer a need to as Ban already knew all of it after the knowledge was injected in his brain.
He still doesn't have the necessary materials and preparation to hunt the egg so Ban decided to store it inside his Beast Tattoo for now.
And speaking of Beast Tattoo, Ban took a glance inside it to observe the Unknown Egg.
His plan was actually to try and contract this egg everyday until he became successful. However, he forgot about it yesterday and ended up wasting five chances of contracting it.
The Blood Contractor skill's cooldown would reset every midnight, regardless if he uses it or not. He was planning to contract the Unknown Egg before sleeping so that he would still have the five contract chances during the day.
No one knows what will happen during the day so he wanted to make the Blood Contractor skill as his trump card. And if it wasn't used during the day, then he would then use that day's chances to contract the Unknown Egg.
It was such a waste that he forgot about it but anyways, he did not try contracting the Unknown Egg for now. He doesn't know if he would still have a use for the contract chances later.
Just as Ban was about to retract his consciousness from the Beast Tattoo, he suddenly noticed a slight discrepancy.
He realized that the Rogue Red Termite and the Unknown Egg's distance seems to have become closer.
However, Ban decided to ignore it a while later as he thought that he might just be imagining it.
He retracted his consciousness and immediately proceeded to check the other rewards he got from killing that Ant Monster in the Monster Realm.
The next reward he checked was a [Skill].
[Skills] are as rare or even rarer than Beast Cores. Although the Monsters and Beasts already have skills the moment they are born or summoned, the same thing could not be said for the Summoners or the humans.
Although there are some cases that a human had a [Skill] the moment they were born, it was only one in a million occurrence.
They need to obtain it in one way or another.
It was rare as unlike Beast Cores, [Skills] are not obtainable that easily. One needs to have the necessary method to extract the Skills from a Beast or even from a person first before one could trt having that Skill.
The others can also obtain a Skill using dirty and evil means, such as the one Delo used before when he transformed into that ugly looking creature.
In Emilia's case, Ban was not so sure about it, but he guessed that the ritual might have something to do with it, if she did not obtain it from a Beast of course.
However, although it was rare, Ban no longer felt it that way as the System had been giving him Skills like it was candy.
The [Skill] he gained was an offensive skill. Ban felt elated upon noticing that as he finally had his own offensive Skill.
Previously, he only relied on his martial skills to dodge and attack the enemy, but now that he got this Skill, he was happy as he finally had a skill that could deal massive damage with only one strike.
[Skill: Fist Penetration (Earth)
Allows the user to transform their fist into something that is as hard as metal before making it erupt like a volcano.
Can penetrate and break strong defense easily.
Usage: Instant
Cooldown: 5 Minutes

Ban clenched his fist as he was now itching to try his very first offensive skill. However, in the end, he managed to restrain himself as he was worried that he might break something if he could not restrain himself from punching around.
The attic was only made of wood materials after he was worried that Kuys might reprimand him if he broke something so precious for Kuys.
