Chapter 102 - TwoTailed Rat!
Chapter 102 - TwoTailed Rat!
"We're here Ban!" Boss Mario said while pointing at the small house hut just behind his bakery store.
It was called a small storage room for a reason and Ban estimated that his room in the attic might even be bigger than Boss Mario's storage room.
"Wait for a moment, I'll just get that sword that you can use to kill those damn rats!" Boss Mario said as he sprinted back towards his store to get the sword that he just bought.
Ban nodded his head as he went to observe the small storage room closely. While doing so, Ban discovered that there was actually a hole on the back side of the storage room, which he thought was unusual.
Some time later, Boss Mario returned with a sword in his hands. The sword was a meter long and it came with its own sheath that was made from wood.
Boss Mari handed it over to him and he received it without a problem. It was his first time holding a sword, much less using it in a battle. However, he figured that as it almost had the same height as that of a baton, using the sword might not be that different from a baton which he was very familiar with.
Ban pulled the sword out of its sheath, and he could tell that it was very sharp the moment he touched the blade lightly. Fortunately, he did not wound himself, or else it would be extremely embarrassing especially with Boss Mario observing him at the sidelines.
"What do you think of it, Ban? Is that up to your satisfaction?" Boss Mario asked with a smile. However, he already knew the answer to that question based on how Ban was swinging the sword while nodding his head.
"Yes, this will do!" Ban answered without much thought.
"Alright, then good luck and be careful!" Boss Mario said before he sprinted away from the storage room lest he got caught up during the battle.
Ban watched as his figure faded and the moment it did so, he immediately opened the door of the small storage room.
Aside from the sword, Boss Mario also brought along some necessary items that he might need. Such as torches or lamps so that he will be able to see even if the surroundings went dark.
Ban stepped inside the storage room slowly and as he could still see just fine, he did not light any torches or lamps yet.
He searched around every corner of the room but unfortunately, he was not able to spot any Two-Tailed Rat at all. He shook his head as he prepared to go outside and observe that hole in the wall again.
However, just as he was about to, he suddenly heard a movement from one of the sacks that were full of spoiled bread at the corner of the room.
Ban did not waste any more time as he went closer and lit that area up with a lamp.
The instant the lamp shone on that area, Ban instantly saw a dog-sized rat covering its eyes with both of its hands as if shielding it from the illumination.
It has two tails with brownish fur that look dirty as if it was covered by grease or mud.
Two-Tailed Rat!
The moment Ban confirmed that it was indeed a Two-Tailed Rat, he no longer wasted any time as he swung his sword towards it without delay.
Swoosh!
The sword traveled swiftly and even before the Two-Tailed Rat could recover its eyes from the sudden light, the sword had already arrived at its head.
Squeak!
The Two-Tailed Rat felt the danger and tried to avoid the attack by moving backward, but alas, Ban was still faster as he sliced the head of the Two-Tailed Rat in one attack.
[You have successfully killed a Two-Tailed Rat!
No Beast Core detected!
Nothing worthy can be extracted!
However, if the Two-Tailed Rat evolved into a Three-Tailed Rat, the center tail could then be sold at an average price.
…
]
Ban shook his head from that System screen. However, he already expected it as he already knew the information regarding the Two-Tailed Rats from the System earlier.
They are easy to kill but due to them often living in dirty environments, most of their body parts could not be used as they contain toxins that are hard to get rid of.
They are easy to kill but the real problem one will face while fighting a Two-Tailed Rat was actually from the fact that they always come in numbers. If you don't eliminate all of them and their nest, then they will just keep on coming back relentlessly.
On the other hand, Ban was quite satisfied with the sword in his hand. Not only did it manage to successfully split the rat's head in half, he figured that its durability was actually not affected.
He didn't know what material was used to forge the sword but he guessed that it was not normal material.
He also felt satisfied that he was able to use it just fine even though he only used the movements meant for the baton. He felt that the two weapons really just resembled each other except for the fact that the other one was blunt, while the other one was sharp.
Ban used the lamp again to survey the storage again one more time, but this time, more thoroughly. He wanted to make sure that no Two-Tailed Rat was left hiding here before going to their nest to completely eliminate them.
He nudged every sack and every object to see if they were hiding any rat on their backs. Fortunately, Ban no longer found any more Two-Tailed Rats aside from the one he just killed earlier.
Using the tip of the sword, Ban stabbed the Two-Tailed Rat's dead body before bringing it outside of the small storage room.
He then looked around him to search for Boss Mario and the moment they made eye contact, Ban instantly waved his hands to let him come over.
