Chapter 33: 33 White Tiger Group quartet
Chapter 33: 33 White Tiger Group quartet
"Heh, the Black Wilderness, who would have thought I’d be back here? The days when I was a newbie are truly nostalgic, feels like they just happened yesterday." Gazing at the familiar somber scenery in front of him, Gao Lianyu, who was seated in the carriage, couldn’t help but become sentimental.
Gao Lianyu, a Shield Bearer by profession, was the chief tank of the White Tiger Group, known simply as the MT. Clad in a set of refined Mysterious Iron Heavy Armor, he looked like a walking tin can.
This armor had also been enchanted with ’False Life,’ a strong rune array, and combined with his physique of nearly thirty, he had accumulated more than five hundred health points, a veritable beef tank. With the super high defense of the Mysterious Iron Heavy Armor, he was practically a human version of a Transformer.
"Stop sulking, Old Gao, we’ve got serious business to attend to," said Ma Long, who was driving the carriage. Known as Long within the White Tiger Group, there were many skilled riders, but he was the only one adept at driving vehicles. His profession was a Ranger, a powerful DPS class, especially effective against the squishy magic system professions.
As he spoke, Ma Long hopped down from the carriage, dressed in black Ranger gear, with two curved blades slung across his back. A black panther followed closely at his side, a spitting image of the Shadow Ranger Trist from COP.
Following him down from the carriage was Zhang Hao, wearing a black and white Magical Robe. His profession was Onmyoji, and in this game where mage professions were scarce, any profession with a mana bar was highly valued, let alone an all-weather profession like the Onmyoji that could both heal and deal damage.
As the chief healer and chief magic DPS of the White Tiger Group, Zhang Hao’s salary was even higher than Gao Lianyu’s. He was the kind that people begged to come. However, for this operation, he was the most proactive one, since the equipment and Skill Books dropped by a Corpse-driving Warlock, a magic system BOSS, were mostly suitable for him.
"Hey, Old Li, where are your guys?" Ma Long, scanning the desolate surroundings, couldn’t help but ask.
Li Jian was the last to jump down from the carriage. As a berserker who’d advanced, every move he made seemed imposing. He looked around the environment and pointed towards a dirt slope, "There they are. Let me call them."
"Hey you guys, come on out, we’re here," Li Jian shouted towards a hut where a few other people were.
As he spoke, four newcomers in shabby gear came around from behind the dirt slope—it was Xiao Buli and his group.
Seeing the appearance of these four, Xiao Buli couldn’t help but click his tongue. There was a saying that one would not mind inferior goods until comparing them with others, and before he had worried about the unattractive armor designs in the game, but now that he saw the high-level players, he realized the game’s design was quite spot-on.
The equipment on all four of them had its own distinctive features, the dominant ones dominated, the mysterious ones mysterious, and they gave off a very practical feel, as if such gear would indeed be powerful even in real life.
"Hehe, they’re just like we were back then, equally fragile. I mean, if I did a Death Spin through them, they’d probably..." Ma Long typed and talked through the team channel.
After hearing him, Li Jian sternly warned, "I’m telling you not to mess around. Our strength is not yet such that we can act carelessly. Although the four of us are powerful, who knows how strong the guys from Qilin Group have gotten..."
Ma Long chuckled, "I was just joking."
"Let’s get moving then. You guys stay in the carriage, it’s safer there. You can come down after we’ve cleared the BOSS," he said.
"That BOSS seems to move around. Want me to help you folks look for it? I can Enslave Zombies, you know." Li Baocheng pointed towards a few Walking Corpses he had just subdued as he spoke.
His action made Zhang Hao, behind the screen, laugh uproariously. Newbies—so endearing.
"Then I’ll take that offer." As he spoke, he cast ’Enslave Undead’ on those Walking Corpses, forcefully taking control from Li Baocheng. He then cast a Corpse Transformation Spell, and the four dumb, stationary Walking Corpses suddenly swelled, their rotting flesh sprouting black fur, and in the blink of an eye, they turned into four Black Fur Zombies with more than double the strength and speed.
Li Baocheng watched, dumbstruck. To think this could work—The Black Fur Zombie, called Black Evil, seemed to be only the most basic type of zombie, incomparable to the previous small boss, but if they combined forces, they would certainly be enough to wipe out the four of them. Still shaken by this development, the group obediently mounted the carriage.
Li Jian nodded at Zhang Hao, who immediately reached into his backpack and pulled out an object.
Yin Yang Eyes—Activate!
In the game, his eyes immediately turned into two colors, one black and one white. At this point, Zhang Hao’s screen had completely changed color as well, displaying only black and white like two incompatible gases spreading everywhere. These two colors represented Yin Energy and Yang Energy.
Through the changes in these two types of energy, Zhang Hao could deduce based on his experience where powerful Undead might be lurking nearby.
"The Yin Energy to the west is heavy. I can feel a strong presence of Yin Energy in that direction, which should be the Corpse-driving Warlock," he said.
Li Jian nodded, "Then let’s set off."
After deactivating the Yin Yang Eyes, the carriage set out. Without newcomers slowing them down, the four moved swiftly and soon caught up with the rear of the Walking Corpse army. Hehe, it seems we are up against something a bit more formidable than the last one.
They halted the carriage and the four of them faced the densely packed mass of Walking Corpses. Seemingly noticing them, the Corpse-driving Warlock also commanded his army of Walking Corpses to surround them.
Facing a force a hundred times their number, the four of them showed no sign of concern. Gao Lianyu brandished his Refined Iron Blade at Li Jian, almost as if challenging him, "Want to bet to see who can kill more?"
Li Jian gripped his great axe and smirked, "Who’s afraid? Zhang Hao, start the fight."
Zhang Hao sighed. He had nothing on these two violent guys. Raising his hand, he cast Enslave Undead! This spell, more advanced than the Corpse-Driving Technique, immediately freed a dozen Walking Corpses from the control of the Corpse-driving Warlock, and they began to fight the surrounding Walking Corpses, throwing what was a tightly packed formation into complete disarray.
Nevertheless, the Corpse-driving Warlock’s control over the Walking Corpses wasn’t so easily usurped, but this hadn’t been Zhang Hao’s intention. He was merely creating an opportunity for the two to break in.
Just then, Li Jian and Gao Lianyu charged in together.
Gao Lianyu was like a bulldozer, his heavy armor allowing him to face the Walking Corpses without fear of injury. These low-level creatures couldn’t break through his defense. He bulldozed his way through countless Walking Corpses until he stopped in front of a giant corpse with dark green black skin.
An Elite Guard? This little boss seems to have some quality. Gao Lianyu thought as he raised his shield, ready for a good fight. Meanwhile, Li Jian cut in from another angle.
If Gao Lianyu was a bulldozer, then he was the meat grinder. His great axe spun like a whirlwind, slicing every Walking Corpse, good or bad, into two halves. Thus, began a slaughter contest between the two of them.
While the Corpse-driving Warlock was struggling to maintain control over his army, now thrown into complete disarray by the two men, a shadow sneaked up behind the Warlock, enveloping the yet unaware man like the shadow of the Grim Reaper.
PS: Starting tomorrow, there will be two updates every day. I hope everyone continues to support.
