Chapter 127: Headache

Chapter 127: Headache

Chapter 127: Headache

Damian descended on a distant land. One which has its buildings somehow sustained despite surrounded by chaos air and monsters. Around it are properly trained monsters, greeting the emperor as soon as they saw him.

Two of these came up to him. Serpent like in appearance just like their master. However, both had no wings meaning they haven't eaten any Seraphim. Thus making them inferior.

"Where's Hex?"

"She's at her lab my lord." One aide said.

"She's working on the recipe from the image core." The other furthered.

Damian couldn't help but notice the beautiful landscape which Hex was able to pull off on her land. There were trees growing everywhere, shading her soldiers and citizens from the unforgiving scorch of the sun. There was stream connected to the rivers nearby. Running through the demolished buildings in a beautiful yet chaotic view.

Other monsters who were able to escape monsterization was there. While there were others that were purely monster in orientation. Those that were born of two monsters yet nevertheless being gentle creatures. With Damian even seeing one ogre carry a child on his shoulder as the little girl placed a crown of flowers on top of the creature's head.

Of course, Damian was only able to see a portion of Hex's land. Their titles weren't just for show after all. Just like the monarchs of the domains, they also had lands they ruled. With pure monsters and half humans. All being under the direct supervision of their emperor or empress.

"Should we assist you until her study?" One attendant mentioned as they finally reached the entrance of the building where Hex was. There were bright lights showing from the windows. Intensifying from time to time.

"I think I can manage. You may take your leave."

"Thank you my lord." The servants said. Leaving as Damian finally knocked at the door.

"Hex, open up. It's Damian." The emperor waited for five whole seconds, forcing the door open as no response came.

He immediately saw the half serpent empress in her usual clothes. With her violet hair tied up to a pony so that it won't disturb her in her work. Her tail had a vial being stirred and, on her hands were one each. Upon seeing Damian however, she dropped the one on her tail. Leaving it on the table as she took up her goggles using the same body part.

"Can you knock?"

"I did, but nobody was answering."

"Well did you at least try knocking twice?"

"Did you finish making the recipe yet?"

"Changing the subject I see." Hex remarked as she went back to grabbing the vials.

"Anyway, this takes time, don't rush me." She continued.

"I'm not rushing you though. I'm just asking if you made any progress." Damian looked around the room. There were countless body parts of dead monsters placed on large glass containers. There were blueprints placed on the walls. With calculations and computations centering around modification.

"But I was really surprised that you took that human's offer you know." Hex mentioned, mixing together the ones on her hand and on a larger flask. Bubbling and creating a violet smoke as it glowed bright for two seconds before settling down.

"Are you siding with Aeolus then?" Damian asked, making the empress stop momentarily as if giving it a thought.

"You know I never will. If it comes down to it, I'm willing to sink in hell together with you Damian."

"That won't be necessary. We've been drowning in this hellhole for so long that, something like that would be meaningless."

"Yeah you're probably right."

"We need to gather stronger forces. We can't be the only ones on this level. We need to awaken the humans who still remain before they die." Damian furthered, referring to the fact that, monsterized humans get younger upon reverting to their semi-human form.

"Well most of them would still be weaker than us. There aren't that many who were able to eat a Seraphim you know."

"That's fine. Two or more at our level of strength should be good enough." Damian said, implying something which Vex noted.

"So you really are planning to get replacements for Kingsley and Herald?"

"Of course I am. Those seats aren't supposed to be left vacant. If we want to take down our enemies, we need as much help as we can get."

"That's rich coming from a person who can slay a dragon all by himself." Vex said, with Damian's headache acting up again. Forcing him to cut his conversation shorter as he ordered:

"Just continue your work Vex. I want that finished before this week ends."

"Yes sir." Gleefully replied.

Just like that, Damian finally left. Flying right away, soaring higher and higher until he reached the point above the clouds. His temples were throbbing and he felt like throwing up.

Damian screamed from the top of his lungs. Releasing his wings to full extent. Blowing away all of the clouds nearby and clearing the skies with with a burst of mana. Forcing back his horns and his tail which were growing back at that point.

"Dammit! All of this started when he showed up!" The emperor declared. Talking about none other than the Void King, Jubilee.

Ever since that day, Damian has been getting weird flashbacks. Silhouettes of people from his past life which he didn't know. Or rather, he didn't remember. Just like every otter human, when he came out of his monsterification, he had no memories. However, this was supposed to be recovered in time.

Yet Damian's memory was still hazy. There was nothing but a dark and empty space in his mind. That is, until Jubilee came.

"This isn't good. I need to clear my head."

Damian searched for the nearest settlement of monsters. Flying at high speed and, crashing down as soon as he found his unfortunate targets.

It was a group of Earthen Bears. Having an average height of ten feet, all of which having shark like teeth. With vines dangling all around them. They all had muscular bodies and could easily rip a human's body in one slash.

"None of you are going to survive this." Damian announced, hiding both his wings and his weapon. Relying on hand to hand combat.

The bears were the first to make a move. Twenty in total and releasing vines that shot from the ground. While some were whipped in the air. Damian was able to dodge all of this using nothing but his [Spatial Awareness]. Moving from one place to the other and executing each movement with as minimal of a motion as needed.

However his enemies didn't allow him to continue disrespecting the, Throwing large boulders right at the spot where Damian moved to dodge. With two whips flying at him at full speed while three more came as waves from the ground.

"Pathetic." Damian said as he dashed straight at the vines. With the boulders still on top of him. Damian then jumped right through the vines on the air and on the ground. Landing just as quick as he jumped up. Using the first boulder as a stepping stone in order to transfer to the other.

The bears waited for their opponent to show up but Damian didn't come out. Until the boulder finally crashed down, sending a wave of dust mixed with the wind. This momentarily impaired the vision of the bears. Making it possible for Damian to close in.

"You're dead." The voice said as a fist came out of the dust, punching one of the bears in the gut and knocking it down the ground. With the creature grabbing on to its belly in pain as it began squealing in pain.

"Oh pipe down will you. It's not gonna kill you." Damian said, changing his focus to the remainder of the bears. With two immediately trying to claw him right away.

Damian dodged both by moving his body to the middle of the attacks. Spinning right away as he held to one paw and carried the creature whole. Flipping it over in a single second as he went to do the same to the other one.

He then punched both in the face, knocking them out cold as he focused on the remainder of teh bears. Sixteen in total and all being enraged.

With monster-like strength added to his already transcendent level of skills, there was no way for Damian to lose. That is why he decided to handicap himself. Knowing that the fight would end too soon if he used gravity. A decision which would've prevented him from blowing off steam entirely.

"That was a close one." He mentioned as another bear tired to body slam him. Quaking the earth and sending huge chunks up which Damian also needed to dodge. This was followed up by even stronger whips coming from all around. Leaving no room for Damian to escape to as he jumped up once again.

Yet that time around, the bears were prepared. One of them was actually charging up a beam attack. Firing it just as soon as Damian was within sight.

This was the first hit that actually landed. Sending Damian crashing to a nearby pile of debris. With the bears ganging up and, thinking that they could actually win. However, they felt strong bloodlust come from where their prey was. Making their legs tremble in fear as the bears began backing away. Carrying their fallen as they escaped.

"Dammit. And here I was just warming up." Damian mentioned, feeling the presence of his enemies trailing off and, along with it was his headache which finally disappeared.

"I really need to get my memories back soon. This is getting annoying." The emperor thought to himself as he finally flew back to the skies.
