Chapter 1189: Sarina Koba
?
Anatoly Novgorod sat silently in the carriage as it rattled southward toward the captured Draconian ships. His mother sat across from him, her expression unreadable as she tapped away on a communication device, the soft clicks filling the otherwise quiet space.
It took a few hours to reach Volgograd City, but as they got close, something felt off, causing him to climb out of the carriage as it came to a stop. Catherine remained inside with a
knowing smile.
'Foolish boy, I'll let you learn your lesson,' she thought with a knowing smile while spotting a dozen aircraft high above.
Anatoly and his guards stood at the edge of the city, their gazes locked on the colossal fleet of blimp-like vessels looming high above. The air was thick with tension as the crafts suddenly lit up, their ominous glow illuminating the darkened skies.
"It's the Draconians! Take cover!" the commander bellowed behind him, his voice cutting through the chaos.
Before Anatoly could react, the world erupted into fire and shrapnel as the ground shook. Explosions tore through the city, flattening the proud crown of the south and shaking the ground beneath his feet.
Yet he stood frozen, his eyes wide as destruction rained down around him. In seconds, the city's defenses roared to life. Towers groaned as they shifted to aim, and mana cannons unleashed blazing torrents of energy into the heavens, their arcs lighting up the battlefield.
"Your Majesty! Something's falling from the crafts!" a soldier shouted, his voice cracking with alarm.
Anatoly gazed upward, his breath catching as dark shapes began descending from the skies like harbingers of doom. Surprise took him as the Draconians hit the continent from their island.
'How have they created such war machines? And why are soldiers jumping from them!' he thought when seeing the parachutes open as the enemy troops landed in Volgograd.
The sound of battle erupted, but that's when the commander shouted once again, "Enemies incoming! Protect the emperor."
Moments later, the Novgorodian Imperial Guard closed in, forming a protective circle three ranks deep, just as the Draconians landed a few meters away. Anatoly could now take in the full sight of them.
He had to admit he liked their armor, which shielded their vital areas and was imposing and menacing. Their helmets, shaped like skulls, sent an icy shiver down his spine. The black armor gleamed in the afternoon sun, almost as if it were alive with menace.
One soldier roughly nudged him toward the carriage, speaking with urgency. "Your Majesty, we'll hold them off. You must return to the capital."
Anatoly agreed with a worried nod before climbing inside just as a deafening roar sounded when the Draconians surged forward, their heavy boots thundering against the earth as they charged at the Imperial Guard.
Their black armor gleamed like a storm cloud, and the skull-shaped helmets gave them an otherworldly, terrifying appearance. The enemy's swords cut through the air and met the Imperial Guard's shields with brutal force.
One of the Draconians swung his blade in a vicious arc, sending an Imperial soldier flying backward, his armor dented and broken. Another enemy fighter lunged forward, its weapon piercing through a guard's defenses.
The Imperial Guard held their ground, but they were struggling against the relentless onslaught. The ground beneath them shook as the Draconians pushed forward, relentlessly, like a tide of darkness crashing against a wall.
In the chaos, the clash of steel and the cries of men echoed across the battlefield, marking the start of a battle that would decide their fate. While this was happening, Catherine was watching from the carriage with gleaming red eyes.
'You little devil, what crazy soldiers are you training to jump that high without powers!' she thought with amazement.
Afterward, Catherine quickly composed a message to her younger sister, her fingers moving briskly across the device. The revelation had left her both curious and unsettled. 'Is Brooke still there with you, Nat?' she questioned.
Seconds later, Natalia replied cheerfully voice as she was in a good mood, 'Just catching up with our old friend, big sister. I will send you a message when I'm done.'
When Catherine heard this, she giggled before turning back to the burning city as explosions constantly rang out. The whole thing made her curious while watching a certain group of Draconians descending toward their captured vessels.
Following that, the emperor ordered a retreat, leaving the city to the reinforcements that were closing in on them. He noticed his Mother shaking her head, which annoyed him. 'You try fighting a demon!'

Sarina Koba joined the Draconian Shocktroopers, hoping to catch the king's attention, which it achieved. Her commander informed her that Archer wanted to see her once she was back from their mission, which excited the white-haired woman.
She was sharpening her sword for the fifth time, causing her friend Elisa to tease, "Why does the king want to see you, Sari? I know your grandfather and father are close with him, but I heard he banned all women apart from his harem from getting close."'
"I haven't seen him in a while, to be honest," Sarina replied in a frustrated voice. "I've tried to go see him, but the queens won't let me in the palace."
Elisa chuckled dryly before speaking, her tone laced with curiosity. "I heard the assassination attempt left him horribly disfigured. I've seen him with a few queens since then, but he always wore a mask and a cloak that concealed his entire body."
Sarina was just about to reply but their commander's voice echoed out, "Get ready to jump troopers! Remember what our mission is: Destroy the capture Destroyers, free the sailors, and retreat to the coast where the Dragon Marines will pick us up."
She gulped when hearing this, but put her helmet on while readying the parachute as they started approaching the Draconian Iron Leviathans doors. Sarina was standing at the edge just as the commander gave the green light to jump.
'Here we go!' she thought while jumping from the craft.
The roar of the Leviathan engines faded behind her as the city below loomed closer. Her heart raced as the wind whipped around her as she plummeted, the ground racing toward her. Suddenly, the sky erupted as cannons from the city below fired into the air; the blasts shaking the heavens and sending shockwaves through the air. Sarina felt the air shift, the power of the blasts pulling at her.
"This is what I trained for! It's time to show High Command what a Koba can do,' she internally celebrated with an excited smile.
Sarina rushed past the blasts as the craft returned fire with the Devastator Cannons that level the city below, causing plumes of smoke to erupt. Her heart pounded as the ground neared, the chaos of exploding cannons still ringing in her ears.
She yanked the ripcord, feeling the sudden tug of the parachute deploying, jerking her upward before the fabric billowed wide, slowing her descent. Around her, the rest of the Shocktroopers followed suit, their chutes opening in a wave.
The wind howled as Sarina glided down, her eyes scanning the chaos below. She could see the streets teeming with soldiers and civilians alike, the sound of distant spells and clanging metal rising from every corner.
As her feet finally touched the ground, she hit hard, rolling to absorb the impact before springing to her feet. Her gaze swept through the chaos, and there, amid the madness, she spotted her friends already sprinting toward her, weapons ready.
At the front of the group was their commander, her eyes locked on a distant target. "Port," he shouted, his voice cutting through the noise. "Move out!"
Sarina didn't hesitate and readied her sword before taking off with the others, her boots pounding the cracked streets as they rushed toward the port, where their next battle awaited. When catching up, she noticed Alliance soldiers fighting back, but they were surprised thanks to the sudden attack. Sarina ducked under a Warhammer while slicing through the man's leg.
The enemy crashed to the ground as she plunged her blade into his skull. Following that, the Shocktroopers rushed through Volgograd City killing any enemy soldiers they found but when the group arrived at the port; it was chaos.
Dozens of Draconians were attacking the outer wall as they converged on the port to get picked up by the navy. The commander pointed to a massive building. "The Draconian Sailors are in there. Let's free them while the others destroy the ships."
When Sarina entered the building, a dozen Alliance soldiers rushed at them. She deflected
several attacks before countering with her own. Enemies dropped like flies as other
Shocktroopers went to retrieve the captives.
As they waited, several massive explosions shook the city, causing Elisa to appear beside her
while cleaning her sword, "Looks like the other squads hit the ships, we just have to wait for
the landing craft while holding off the reinforcements."
