Chapter 1308  Will Of Elder (4)

Everything that was happening seemed to be taking a long time, but the time period when Andar's wings crossed half the desert was precisely one second, but in that second, more than a million Archangels had perished and ten Sovereigns alongside them.

This might seem like a lot, but this was under the condition that the Lady of Shadows was rapidly rotating the Angels when their light became too low, but the forces of Oblivion were sneaky, and the Angels that were dying were those that forgot to stop pouring out more of their light when they had run low.

No matter how much Eva was fighting to maintain the lives of the Angels, her battle was against Oblivion itself and she was taking the majority of its influence head-on while allowing the Angels to be the ones to push ahead and handle the minor influence it had left.

As a Creator, the death of the Angels stung on a fundamental level, but Eva was sadly used to loss, and she could push on despite the pain, because there was no other option, 'Fight now, mourn later.'

Angels fell, but the expansion of the rune formation never ceased, and with a resounding crack that shook the Great Desert, Andar's dark wings covered it in its entirety, and like a rubber band that had been drawn to its maximum limit, the darkness snapped back to its origin, and the frozen sands reverted back to its arid state, even the thousand suns in the sky had begun to recover, it was almost as if nothing had taken place, but that was far from the truth.

Two seconds had gone by. The wooden staff held by Staff was blazing with power and potential so vast that even space and time were fleeing from it. All twenty-seven growth rings had long been filled up with power, and like Andar, Staff had to push beyond her limits, and she had, for she had a breakthrough, and now the energy she was channeling was no longer concentrated on the twenty-seven rings on the staff but were slowly bleeding into the rest of it.

However, Staff said she could only hold on for three seconds, and this did not change, there was only one more second left.

The Great Desert was truly massive, and one could fit millions of universes inside of it, despite the power of the runic formation, it could not maintain such coverage over the Great Desert for long, and in this case, the coverage only lasted for two seconds before it was broken.

Those two seconds were very important for Eva because as she fought Oblivion, she was also performing the task they set out to achieve. The first was relatively simple and was related to the matter of the World Stele, which was to locate the Memories of Thenos.

The World Stele had given Rowan a lot of description on how to locate this unborn titan, and yet Eva had nearly failed in locating him.

Unlike the rest of those imprisoned here, the memories of Thenos were incredibly chaotic, having no fixed form, for this titan had never seen the true form of reality because he was never born, this left it to imagine reality in a way that it never was.

Thenos was born of light, every single drop of his blood was filled with the purest light of creation, for he was born a Celestial, but he had never seen light.

He had multiple mothers in a single body, but that was a weird concept because those mothers were still Thenos, yet they were not. Because he wanted to be born, he created mothers, simple receptacles to create his existence, yet he had no concept of life.

Thenos was a walking contradiction, and it was the reason he could attract a Singularity like the World Stele to descend upon him, for his roots were not only Celestial but Demonic as well, Life after all was born from the Primordial Darkness.

For Eva to find Thenos, she did not look for a fixed memory, instead, she looked for the concept of things that never were, and in the darkness that resembled light and in the silence that was nothing were screams she saw the true form of this titan, and she knew that Thenos was truly insane.

His birth before his death had warped his mentality into something horrifying and the many eternities he had spent inside the Great Desert did not help matters for Thenos.

Oblivion was a great thief, yet it was a forgiving one, because every memory that was caught inside its web would lose itself, and they would not fight to return back to existence, and slowly but surely existence would forget about them.

Thenos was not that lucky. He could not forget because he had no concept of memory, because he had never made one before, and yet as a creature that should be born directly at the eighth-dimensional level, he possessed the dimension of memory intrinsically, this created a disjointed influence within his existence that even Oblivion could not totally suppress, and so Thenos had been observing the desert for all these eternities and yet was not observing them, because he could not understand reality, even the Great Desert made no sense to him.

It was a good thing that the mind that touched Thenos was Eva, a powerful Celestial Creator, and so she was able to handle the strain of touching his mind without going insane, however, for a brief moment she nearly stopped this plan, despite the harm that this would bring to Rowan.

Eva had lived a long time and seen countless terrifying sights and even more terrifying immortals, yet there was something about Thenos that was simply… wrong. He was a creature that should not exist and perhaps it was for the purpose of imprisoning beings like him that the Great Desert was truly created, and yet Eva knew that in order to accomplish their goals, then they would need to sleep with strange bedfellows.

Although it was important to note that the Lady of Shadows only proceeded with the plan because no matter how dangerous Thenos was, or how broken his mind had become, she trusted that there was one person who could hold the heavens above even if all of it collapsed.

Rowan would hold the heavens, and so she had no fear. The Angels fought, and they died for their creator, and they had no fear that their sacrifices would end up being futile.

In the brief moment when the wings of Andar covered the entire desert, Eva located Thenos, and she marked him, and then her sight turned to the hidden task that she was supposed to handle, and that was to find the memories of the Primordial Beasts.

At first, this plan made no sense, the Primordial Beasts were already extinct even before the Primordial Era. This was at the beginning of existence when the Great Desert did not exist, how could the memory of the Primordial Beast remain when they had died before when the concept of Memory was created?

This answer lay in Rowan's sojourn to the future and the vision he had seen of Time, Light, and Demon at the beginning of existence when they had begun slaughtering the Primordial Beasts.
