Chapter 1446 It's a date
Lex was, of course, joking. It was tough to quantify the amount of strength he was using because, firstly, he was not a computer, and secondly, his maximum strength depended on a lot of things. Individually he understood how much of a boost in strength he would get if he used Domination, or activated his Dragons Heart, entered Super Say- eh, no if he entered his Lotus form where he was tapping into the Lotus' power. But if he stacked all of those states on top of each other?
He literally had no idea how much strength he could exert in a situation like that, because that was not the kind of thing he tested out ordinarily. Displaying his peak strength like that all the time put a strain on his body that wasn't good for him, so he avoided unnecessary exertion.
Of course, in this state not being good for him meant it would slow down his growth. This was because almost everyday, his body was subtly getting stronger due to the influence of numerous things. Whether it was his heart, the Lotus on his back, his cultivation technique, the high quality food he ate, or any of the numerous other things he did on a daily basis, almost all of them helped him grow just a little bit stronger everyday.
There was also the fact that as an immortal, he drew much of his strength from laws, and now that he was in a Mature realm, the strength of the surrounding laws was also greater.
In summary, whether Lex was actually using 5% of his strength was questionable, but he could say for certain that he wasn't trying just yet. After all, he didn't want to be rude to the pretty lady.
"You're pretty funny," the elf said. "I guess that means I should stop playing games."
True to her word, the aura around the eld suddenly changed, and Lex felt an unusual pressure emanating from her body. He could tell that she had activated some kind of racial power, for as a human he felt slightly suppressed.
It couldn't be helped, for despite all his individual advantages, he could not completely escape the racial disadvantages of being a human. Not that such a disadvantage had much of a difference on him.
The elfs red hair started to give off a soft glow, and the image of the starry sky behind her became more and more realistic, almost as if he was transported to the middle of space.
The pressure he faced increased exponentially, and for the first time the muscles in Lex's arm flexed a bit, as if he was finally using some force.
Then, without warning, Lex was almost overpowered!
It was not the elfs racial power, or the mysterious power from the stars. It was the influence of the deeper laws that affected him.
He used his left eye to study the elf, but could not peer into what specific law she had used or how. All he could see was that her strength had been augmented by an order of magnitude, all depending on his own strength.
That meant the more strength he used to resist her, the stronger she got!
Just as his hand was at a 30 degree angle from the table, almost close to touching it, Lex managed to stop it. He smiled at the elf, the sudden challenge of this fight stirring his genuine interest.
As an Earth Immortal he could not sense whatever law the eld was using, but as a person whose energy had an affinity for laws, and a body that was not too shabby, he had other ways of getting things done.
Lex activated his tenet, but instead of reaching out to influence any laws, just allowed it to permeate through his body. This started out as an arm wrestling match and a contest of physical strength, but now it would be a contest for supremacy!
The elfs expression suddenly changed as she felt, through her physical connection to Lex, the human trying to sway her influence on the law she was using!
"I suppose since you've stopped playing games, I should also stop messing around," Lex said, as his Dragons Heart started to stir.
Lex also activated his Domination, not to intimidate or overpower the elf, but to use the dragons influence over reality itself! He wanted to challenge the rule that said Earth Immortals could not touch upon the deeper laws of the universe!
Lex could touch whatever he wanted! No wait, that didn't sound right.
What he meant was, Lex could not be limited by the constraints of his cultivation level!
Slowly, Lex's hand started to rise back towards center, and the closer it came, the more Lex's eyes were filled with excitement.
The rules of the game had changed. They were no longer competing on physical strength - there was no competition there at all. Lex could win that competition anytime. Instead, as their hands returned to center, the influence they both had on whatever law the elf used was equal.
Now, the position of the arms determined who was in control of this law!
The two wrestled in relative silence, but that did not mean everyone watching was quiet. Instead, they were all losing their minds as they conversed using their spirit senses! As Immortals, most of them could see what was happening, even if not all of them understood the whole situation.
All the Heavenly Immortals and above, however, were stunned! What had started out as a game actually became quite interesting!
"You know what, after this, no matter what happens, I think you owe me a drink," the elf said.
"How about a drink in Artica then?" Lex asked.
"It's a date."
"That doesn't mean I'll let you win the match though."
"What a gentleman," the elf responded sarcastically.
"Don't make me laugh, it'll weaken my arm strength."
"Oh, in that case, what do you call a human with a map and no sense of direction?"
"Are you seriously trying to win like this? Fine, I'll bite. What do you call him?"
"Lost. That human is definitely lost."
Lex nearly lost the armwrestling match because he was suddenly hit by an incredibly strong urge to facepalm. He had seen many things in the universe, but a Heavenly Immortal elf - a cute Heavenly Immortal elf - telling a dad joke was not something even he would have expected.
"I think in our situation, it's the elf that's going to lose," Lex responded, and then started to truly exert himself.
Since he did not understand the law he was trying to manipulate, he did not know the best way to do it, which is why he was truly and genuinely fighting blind. He was fighting from a disadvantage no matter how he looked at it, but that's what made it interesting.
Lex didn't hold back at all. He channeled all his affinities, activated his sword intent, tapped into the power of his heart, brought out Domination and unleashed the full might of his tenet.
There were some things he still kept in reserve - for example his Lotus form or his influence on Divine energy, which could basically allow miracles. After all, it was never best to reveal all his trump cards.
But since this had become a battle of supremacy, a draw was unacceptable. He would have to either win, or win. Basically, there was only one acceptable outcome.
The elfs smile faded as she also did her utmost, finding it unacceptable that she could lose to someone with a lower cultivation level than her!
But… after a few moments, Lex took the lead as he began pressing her hand down. The crowd gasped, for the sight was genuinely unbelievable. At some point, a number of the audience members put on Tshirts that just had an imagine of Lex and the elfs arms, locked in their eternal battle.
But the battle was not eternal, for under the influence of all of Lex's abilities, he eventually overpowered her, and finally won!
The moment her hand touched the table, Lex felt like he got a tremendous amount of feedback from his tenet, as if it had grown stronger as a result of that challenge!
There was a millisecond of silence after Lex won, before the crowd burst into cheer, roaring and screaming as if they were the ones who had won.
Lex and the elf, on the other hand, were caught up still recovering from the actual competition.
"Can I finally know your name now?" Lex finally asked once the feedback from his tenet was over.
The elf, staring at her hand with doubt and confusion, focused her eyes on him finally.
"The name's Misha," she said, her voice tinged with disbelief. "I'm Misha Hali, Representative of the Fuegan United Coalition of Kaos."
Lex maintained his grin, not letting his shock appear on his face. After all, this was the first time he was coming face to face with someone actually representing the Fuegan… the largest terrorist group in the entire Origin realm!
