Chapter 1272 The Fourth Day
"…Huh."
"Never thought my previous session would end up as productive as I did."
Appearing at Daffors Village once more after getting a good night's sleep, Valyr had a slight smile on his face as he briefly thought back to the things he did before his current session.
After reaching the third stage of mastery with [Three Revolutions, Nine Cycles], it went without saying that the young man tested the skill's effects once more, curious as to how much of an improvement the third stage was to the first stage.
Thanks to a few trees nearby that served as his target dummies, Valyr was eventually able to confirm his earlier hypothesis that each stage of mastery only increased the efficacy of his magic spells by a further 5%, while reducing its cost and cooldown by half of that figure.
Although it did not follow his other hypothesis, wherein each additional stage mastered would multiplicatively increase its effects by 50%, the young man was still more than satisfied with his mana circuit nevertheless.
After all, not only had he yet to max out all of the skills in his arsenal that further improved his damage output, but he had also yet to max the mana circuit itself.
In other words, he'd only seen what the mana circuit was capable of at its current stage of mastery… at Level 1.
Slightly fearful and expectant of a max-leveled [Three Revolutions, Nine Cycles] would be like at max mastery, the young man decided to stop focusing on the skill for the meantime, especially when he found out that he had spent the better part of two whole days to get to that level.
Though, seeing that he could still spare a day in Greater Beyond before he really needed to fix his sleep schedule, the young man decided to make the most out of the spare day he had by grinding as much XP as he could.
Of course, with Akashic Battlefields needing him to first head to a kingdom to access, what other place would be better than an Experience Pit for him to amass as much XP as possible?
Exactly.
None.
And thus, with him spending the remainder of the second day heading towards the nearest city he could find, Valyr spent the third day making up his session endlessly killing monsters that were exactly 10 levels above his own.
Adding on the fact that the monsters he had the pit staff summon were all Uncommon Elite-tier, even the 30% cut the Experience Pit requested from him at the end did not stop him from amassing a ludicrous amount of XP for his level.
"Status screen."
Ding!

'Close to 7 million XP,' thought Valyr to himself, faintly chuckling as he headed towards a more secluded part of the village.
'Although such an amount wouldn't even allow me to go up by a level if I were Valyr Zeihardt, it's definitely more than enough for me to max out all my skills and still have a lot left over.'
Inwardly thanking the two Administrators for the foresight of giving him a skill like [Obscuration of True Fate] beforehand, the young man eventually found himself in a rarely-ventured alley, only to sit cross-legged on the ground soon after.
"After this, I would've more or less solidified my foundations as much as possible before ascending to the next class rank." Muttering these words to himself, Valyr soon closed his eyes as he began to allocate his unused XP with the help of the system.
Ding!
[Would you like to spend 84,452 XP to upgrade 'Analysis' to the peak of Common grade?]
Confirming the first prompt that popped up in his mind, the young man did not take too long to enter a skill upgrading spree of sorts.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
After maxing out his only identification skill, Valyr then went ahead and pushed all of the essential mage skills to Level 10, immediately getting the feeling that he could now unleash more power from the spells he cast.
After that, he moved onto upgrading all of the combat skills in his arsenal, giving himself about half an hour afterwards to digest all of the information that came from the upgrades.
Once all of the active skills in his arsenal were upgraded, he then moved onto his passive skills, electing to upgrade [Unearthed Innate Potential] first before moving onto the remaining passive skills that could be upgraded.
"Haah…" In the end, the young man spent almost 2 million XP, as well as the greater part of 6 hours to upgrade all of his skills to Level 10, grinning the moment the mental strain from the upgrades began to subside.
"I've definitely gotten better at enduring the mental strain from upgrading so many skills at once." Letting out a faint sigh of relief as he stood up, the young man briefly checked his status screen to see how much unused XP he had left.
Seeing that he still had close to 5 million XP left untouched, Valyr decided to head back to the frequented parts of the village as he thought about what he should do next.
"Well… now that I've pretty much done all of the preparations I could for my current rank, should I proceed onto the next rank, then?"
As he faintly muttered out the question that came to his mind, a number of thoughts soon began to pop up, reminding him that there were still multiple things he could do at his rank that would allow him to become even stronger after the ascension.
From purifying his mana to coming up with a similar idea after recalling how his species turned out as an NPC, it did not take long for Valyr to conclude that he could postpone his ascension to a later time.
After all, it's only been the fourth day since Greater Beyond was released to the public. In comparison to the time when the final battle would erupt, he wasn't really in any rush.
'Hmm…' With that, he decided to change the focus of his question, wondering to himself what he should do to pass the time instead.
'…Aha.' Fortunately, the sight of a small party heading out of the village was all he needed to come up with an answer, causing him to faintly smile as he pushed his agility a bit further than he normally would.
'I'll head to the Cave of Beginnings, then.'
