Chapter 4148 A Longing Heart
Davis pursed his lips, not knowing what to say.
Of course, he could easily let Azbel reach the Nether Dimension through Nyoran. However, he needed Azbel for the defensive formation Lest Mistwalker was making. If he wanted to roam around the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm, then having that defensive formation would be extremely helpful.
It wasn't needed since Stella could just transport the entire mini realm elsewhere, but it was an added layer of security.
Davis felt that it would be better if it was present.
"Aren't you a Nether Orb Cobra, a serpent of the Nether Dimension? How could you could not just open a portal from here to there?"
"Ugh…" Azbel was confused as to why he was asked this, but he still answered.
"Boss, I am not capable of such a thing, and neither are the other Nether Orb Cobras. From my inherited memories, only a special type among the Nether Devil Race is capable of such a thing. I think such an individual is called the Nether Devilarch. However, I am not sure if it is a stage or a subspecies within the Nether Devil Race. Perhaps it could even be a tier like they're the royals of the Nether Devil Race. Other than that, I only know a bit about my Nether Orb Cobra race."
"I see." Davis nodded.
As expected, creating a portal to the Nether Dimension was something only the Variant Ghostly Crow was capable of. As far as he was aware, only Nyoran could do it.
He guessed her value within the Nether Dimension should be huge if only the Nether Devilarch was capable of creating portals.
"Boss, you know about the Nether Devil Race?"
"A bit." Davis admitted.
"…" Azbel was dumbfounded. Didn't senior Nadia say that she wasn't from the Nether Dimension? He came to know that they weren't aware of the Nether Dimension's ecosystem, so how would Davis or Nadia know about the Nether Devil Race?
He was unaware of Nyoran's power.
"Stay until the formation is complete. Then I'll let you know. Don't worry. I need your help in creating a settlement in the Nether Dimension as well."
"Okay…"
Azbel really couldn't understand, but he trusted Davis since he knew he wouldn't go against his words.
Only after Davis left did Azbel realize that Davis could possibly have a way to get to the Nether Dimension, given how casually he mentioned creating a settlement. He was shocked, to say the least.
Just as he returned to the twelve palaces, Davis returned, but this time, he was with another woman.
"Master, you're back~" Skylia's eyes brightened, her melodious voice echoing.
However, as she saw Vereina beside Davis, her eyes narrowed.
Davis was feeling some headache. He was just on his way back when Vereina appeared and asked him to oversee a transaction between her and Gralex, the Six-Headed Hydra.
"Skylia, I really can't entertain you or anyone else for this kind of matter at the moment. We'll talk later."
Davis politely declined Skylia. Watching her expression dim, he felt like he had done something wrong. He hated that, but he really didn't have time.
Rakshira also approached, but she stopped. The same could be said about Yufella, who suddenly turned around and left as if she had never appeared here.
"Gralex, do you wish to share your soul essence with Vereina in exchange for contribution points?"
"Oh, yes."
Gralex stepped forward. He gazed at Vereina, "According to our agreement, I will offer fifteen percent of my soul essence for all the contribution points Vereina has. I will be severing one of my six souls to offer to her."
"Yes, I will further use the contribution I earned in the future to heal your soul." Vereina nodded.
Davis saw both parties agreed and nodded. He then went to Gralex's palace along with Vereina and they started the transfer.
Naturally, severing the soul was painful, but since Gralex had six souls, it could be done without taking extreme damage.
Once the Six-Headed Hydra's soul was out, Vereina shuddered ever so lightly. Her physique responded to it with excitement. It was a genuine King-Tier Six-Headed Hydra's soul essence, after all. It was way better than the soul essence of the King-Tier Six-Headed Hydra Fey supreme genius. One was huge, and the other was tiny.
It contained more energy than what a human or a fey would have.
Davis had given that soul essence to Vereina after they made it from the Voidshade Chasm, where that Divine Exalt was chained. After all, his condition to give it to her was to explore the seventh level, but after they knew it was nearly impossible, he gave it to her after she recovered.
He felt sorry for making her go through such suffering on his watch. For the same reason, he was now overseeing her transaction.
However, little did he know that Vereina vehemently invited him because she wanted him to approve of this transaction. After all, she didn't want him to see her alone with some other man or devour a soul that was still alive. She knew some people wouldn't like it.
She shyly wondered if Davis had noticed her intentions, but he hadn't. She wanted to know more about him and cast him numerous glances, wondering what he was thinking.
However, Davis looked indifferent.
His mind was practically elsewhere. He wasn't lying when he said he didn't have time for them.
An hour later, Vereina finally finished absorbing Gralex's soul essence.
Currently, her body is undergoing changes. To be accurate, it was her physique. It was now improving to the Mid-Level Empyrean Grade or even higher. At the same time, something inside her soul physique was also twisting and churning intrinsically.
Vereina stood up, but she felt a little dizzy. She fell in Davis's grasp.
"Woah… are you alright?"
"Yes… I'm fine." Vereina felt his warmth. She wanted to stay like that but couldn't find the chance.
Abruptly, she closed her eyes and fell again.
Davis caught her and checked her soul. He could tell that she was awake and suddenly realized she was doing this to be closer to him. He could see her cheeks turn red and her brows quiver ever so lightly.
Sighing lightly, he cast a glance at Gralex, "Ask Everlight to heal your soul. As for the payment, it is free. Don't bother Vereina for it."
"Oh, alright. Many thanks, boss!" Gralex cupped his hands.
Then he sent them off respectfully before grinning at the contribution points in his token. It was going to be of huge help to him, and he would be the strongest in the bandit group until the next mission, at the very least.
Davis carried Vereina in a princess hold. He flew in the skies and by the time he was halfway back to the mansion, he suddenly stopped and opened his mouth.
"If you don't wake up, I'll bring you to a secluded place and bang you until you cry."
"Ah!~"
Vereina jumped in his embrace and glared at him with a pout.
"You- how can you be so crude? Don't you know how a woman feels in this kind of situation?"
Davis chuckled, "I'm well aware, but not right now, Vereina. I feel like doing this now would be saddening to someone else. Actually, it's just my selfishness. I'm obsessed right now. If it isn't her, then I will not be quenched, and it would be doing you a disservice."
"Oh… is it one of your wives?" Vereina blinked.
